We travelled to Assisi and stayed here with seven other couples. We got the room in the pictures and it was absolutely gorgeous... however ONE of the couples in or group got "stuck" with the adjoining room to the hotel and they were NOT happy! The others seem to have enjoyed their room so I guess it pays to be sure you're NOT getting the little "servants" quarters. Staff was very pleasant.

Dear Guest,
We are glad to know you had such a good time in our Residenza. We're delighted you appreciated your Suite. However we have to clear up that the Residenza haven't any "servants quarters". There are seven suites, some largers than others but all of them accord with the style of the 14th century original mansion.

After searching among the many hotels Trip Advisor lists for Asissi, I chose the Residenza D'epoca San Crispino for our 3-night stay. "T.A.'s" lovely pictures of this quaint place and the area of Assisi, illustrated what I recalled of my previous (day) visits to this historical city; cobbled stone streets; beautiful stone buildings within the city walls; and the 'holiness' of this magical city, home to Saint Francis. San Crispino was just as I hoped! The inner courtyard was revealed as we opened the heavy door leading off from the street. Inside were steps down to our unit and others with steps leading up to the manager's office where we stopped off first. Alexandra, the manager, was very friendly and welcoming. She led us down to our room (on the lower level) which we found to be HUGE and at this time of the day, bathed in the afternoon sunshine! To our left was an adequate bathroom that had a shower stall, toliet, bidet with a nice sink with plenty of counterspace. To our far right and closest to the windows was a wooden table and chairs and nearby a large etegere that, when opened, contained cups/saucers, a small sink; a hot plate and a small refrigerator. Also in this main room was a couch which you could watch the (small) t.v. from. The large bedroom was located beyond the main room (to the right) and there were windows that when opened, one could see beautiful views of the valley below and the small yard out back....very picturesque! All the rooms had tiled floors and the ceilings were curved with hand-painted murals on alot of the walls. All of these little touches gave the place a very 'renaissance' feel. Since there is no restaurant on this property, San Crispino offers its clients another option for breakfast. Down the street and very near the hotel, the clients can opt to have breakfast at a very bright, cheery and contemporary alternative. Here a number of breakfast foods are offered along with coffee and juices. All in all, my husband and I loved San Crispino! Everyone associated with it was pleasant, friendly and helpful. We hope to travel to Assisi again and we will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the valley towards Perugia...spectacular views!

Booked the Sora Acqua (Sister Water) suite for 2 nights in April. Ditto what previous reviewers have said about the friendly and attentive service, the great location within walking distance of the major sights in Assisi, the beautiful views of the valley below, and the comfort and charm of the living quarters. I want to add that the room rates are very reasonable and represent a superb value for a lodging of this caliber.

Staying at San Crispino feels less like being in a hotel and more like owning a private apartment in Assisi. The suite is huge, and it easily accommodated the 3 people in our party (we were not charged for the extra person either). The mix of antique furnishings, bookshelves, and modern amenities (such as a desktop PC and a satellite TV with lots of channels) contributes to the sense of home. Also, as we visited during the off-season and were the only guests in the residence, the staff served us breakfast in our room every morning. This is a perfect example of how guest comfort is prioritized.

A couple other things I loved: the picture-perfect stone courtyard at the entrance to the property, and the toiletries made with red wine. Only in Italy! San Crispino really does provide a unique experience though, and the opportunity to stay in a well-maintained historical mansion is one not to be missed.

My husband and I had a lovely and romantic stay at the San Crispino. The rooms were very clean and quirkily decorated: an interested mix of modern and antique. We had an incredible view of the valley and the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica. I can't say enough nice things about Alessandra, who staffed the front desk. She was incredibly welcoming and helpful!

Situated inside the walls of Assisi, the San Crispino only has seven rooms, each named after the titles of the elements given by St Francis. We stayed in Sister Moon and Stars which has its own private garden overlooking the valley. It is busy in Assisi but when we'd had enough we just retreated to our own garden and the birds and the church bells kept us company. Alessandra, our hostess is charming and was ready to do anything to help us enjoy our stay. Parking is easy because you offload at the front door and then go park in the Parkade Mojano just down the hill for a special hotel rate. Wireless internet is available in each room at no extra charge. The room price is very reasonable and well worth the lovely location. We recommend and would return ourselves.
