“Friendly family-run hotel”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

From the friendly welcome to the reluctant goodbye this was a wonderful experience.
Located on the main route between San Francesco's basilica and the main town square, this hotel is ideally situated for anywhere you might wish to go in Assisi. During the day this means that front-facing rooms get the noise of the crowds passing by, but at night, after the tour buses have departed, even these rooms are the essence of tranquillity.
The owners of Il Palazzo have apparently done a good deal of work in the past few years, as previously noted problems, such as lack of an elevator, have been remedied and, from our experience, the hotel now has no glaring omissions. The requests that we made during our stay, such as being able to use some of the facilities when we fancied a meal in after so many fantastic restaurant meals on our trip, were immediately satisfied by our helpful host.
We spent three very enjoyable nights at Il Palazzo and would happily return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor at the front of the building command great views of the valley/plain below As...

The location is excellent, almost mid town. Yo con walk everywhere, go to St Francis and back in 5 minutes. a family owned hotel that klives on premises makes it very cosy. Good breakfast (continental +) . Ask for the rooms on the 3 rd floor and you will have an excelllent valley view day and night.

We stayed at Hotel Il Palazzo, Assisi for two night during our honeymoon and would both happily recommend it to anyone who is looking at Assisi (incidentally, Assisi itself is definitely well worth a visit.)

The hotel is well placed, halfway between the Basilica di Francesco and the Piazza Santa Chiara where most of the action is. We also found all the staff were really helpful and proud of their town (rightly so). We had a couple of exceptional meals around Assisi - both recommended by hotel staff.

Our room was great- a little bit boutique/ shabby chic (in a good way), with a great big four poster bed and a wonderful view over the Umbrian countryside- stunning. Finally, breakfast was also very nice- in a lovely dining room carved out of the rocky hillside.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on a higher floor with a view.

We were very satisfied with this hotel. The rates were reasonable for the location. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but offered a varied selection of food items. Repairs were being made to the water system while we stayed there but management went out of their way to avoid any inconvenience to the guests.

Room Tip: My room had a great view. I'm not sure if everyone had the same. But then who spends that much t...

Our room was very attractive, comfortable and with a terrific view. Location is ideal, right in the historical center. The owners could not be nicer or more helpful. They gave us great suggestions for restaurants and little villages to visit which made our stay very special. Highly recommend. great value. Assisi is a lovely town.

As a short-notice stay, we were pleasantly surprised at our luck in finding such a gem of a hotel. Well run, and with attentiveness to the weary traveller, it made for a wonderful overnighting stop. Like most otels in Assisi, it does not allow for parking of your own vehicle, however, there is a simple solution in that you can drop off your luggage and then repark your car at a suitable parking garage nearby.

This is the second time I have stayed at this wonderful hotel right in the heart of Assisi. The rooms are spacious and this time I have a sweeping view of the Umbrian countryside. The service is friendly and helpful and the ambiance very relaxing. There is a reverse cycle air con in each room which is great as we have arrived in a cold snap.

Breakfast is plentiful and the lounge area just such a pleasure to hang out in after all the sight seeing. Will I be back for a 3rd stay, you bet!!!!!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a view. It is worth it.
