“Perfect Pallotta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2008

I have stayed at Pallotta 5 times; on my own, with my daughter and with my husband. And we are already looking forward to the next time we can stay there. I endorse all the positive comments made in the previous reviews. On this last occasion we arrived late in the evening by train, concerned that there might be no bus at the station, but Stefano texted to say that he would collect us. That just made our arrival so welcoming.

The very low prices charged by Stefano do not reflect the very high quality of the service he and his family provide, in a beautiful hotel in the centre of one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. The family restaurant is if equally high quality; the food is excellent, as is the service and the charm of all the staff there.

Nothing is too much trouble for Stefano and his family, and each time we visit, another little detail has been thought of to make the stay relaxing and comfortable. And Serena really does make the best caffe latte in the world.

Spent 2 nights in Assisi and LOVED our hotel.

Staff was very helpful and easy check-in was a plus. The room wasn't huge, but was nice, clean and comfy. Our window overlooked the main street and we found ourselves enjoying the view more than once.

Breakfast was one of the better ones that we had, fresh coffee (any kind you wanted, latte's, cuppacino, American coffee, expresso) and fresh breads/pastries. They also own a restaurant, so they have the food thing well under control. Another nice touch was that they offered as a service to the guests an open bar and inexpensive bottled water/gatorade etc that was self serve and you just paid using the honor system upon check out.

There also is a panoramic view of the city in a loft at the very top. If you stay there you have to check it out, the views are great. The large windows can be opened, allowing a fresh breeze and unobstructed picture taking. They also offer a reasonable laundry and free ironing upstairs.

The place had an upscale feel about it, especially compared to the other places that we stayed at during this trip. However, there was one anomily.....the bathroom had a shower, but the shower was not seperate from the toilet. Literally, you could go #2 and take a shower at the exact same time. They have a cover to keep the tp from getting soaked, but the entire floor gets flooded. Not a major inconvience, but using the bathroom after someone showers leads to wet feet. I don't want to make a big deal of this, we would stay there again without hesitation, it was just a little odd. When they built the place 700 years ago they didn't plan for indoor plumbing much I suppose. Lol.

The location is ideal, close to the main square and one of the closest to where the bus drops you off from the train station.

It was cool when we stayed there, so AC wasn't an issue. There is not one, fyi.

As mentioned, they also own a restaurant. We made reservations, good thing because it booked quickly, and it turned out to be one of our best meals. We totally understand it booking quickly. Show your room key for a 10% discount.

Everything was appealing, the outside appearance, the inside appearance, the location, the price, friendly staff, the views.....all of this made the rather unusual shower seem trivial.

Great location just off the main square. Rooms are not large and there is no aircon, but quiet and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful and there is a pick up and drop off service from the station if required.

I stayed here for one night. I had a single room that was only 40 euros. The room was a good size, had a very comfy bed, a tv, a nice bathroom with a shower, and came with towels, soap, and shampoo. I had just come here after staying in a hostel in rome, and this was a very nice change of pace. the hotel is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the bus stop and is well situated for touring the town. The owners were friendly and spoke english. There was also a very nice breakfast included in the morning. This was the best place I stayed at during my trip. I highly reccommend it. Assisi is a great place to visit and this is a perfect hotel to stay at.

We stayed at Hotel Pallotta for 3 nites last November. It was wonderful. We had two rooms, one with a great view looking over the rooftops of town towards the setting sun. The other faced the street and the stone buildings, both were quiet, clean, and charming. The bathrooms were basic but clean. The breakfast was good, served in a cute little room with a fireplace. The hotel has a computer available for guests. There is a room at the top of the staircase that is available for guests, sort of a view lounge with big windows in a tower the view is awsome!
The location is great, maybe 40 meters from the fountain that sits on the central square. We parked the car up the hill near the fortress (free) We had dinner in their restaurant one night, it was exellent, Reservations were necessary, we saw a couple with out reservations turned away because the place was full. They returned at about 9:30 and were seated.
Staying in the central part of the city was great. Mornings and evenings were great. The crowds are pretty large between 10am and 4pm. I cant describe how charming the town is, The stone buildings, streets and walkways are beautiful, and very well maintained.

We stayed at the Hotel Pallotta for 1 night during our trip through Tuscany, Umbria, and Venice. It was by far the best value we found of all the hotels we stayed in. For only 70 euros per night, we got a nice quiet room only steps from the main square in Assisi. The breakfast was perfect--fruit, juice, cereals, yogurt, rolls, and four different types of sweet goods/pastries from a local bakery. The owner, who speaks no English, was likeably gruff and made sure that we had a map, picture book of Assisi, and internet access for no charge. The room itself was pleasant, with the only strange thing being the bathroom, which had a shower head pointing straight at the toilet (the idea being you take a shower kind of 'out in the open' in the bathroom and everything is OK getting wet). We also dined in the hotel's nearby restaurant, kind of on accident, and it was great food and even came with a discount since we stayed at the hotel. There was no parking at the hotel, but the owner directed us to a pay lot nearby. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a great value and local flavor in Assisi.

Assisi is one of my most favorite places and I was so excited to finally stay IN the city instead of outside or doing a day trip. Hotel Palotta was very easy to find and the room was simple but clean. I don't love showers that have no curtains but that's to be expected in Italy. Our bathroom did get a little wet after showers! It was a great location for exploring the city. It was nice to have a key to the front door and come and go as we pleased. The simple breakfast included was perfect for us and was a great way to start the day. There was a little belvedere room at the top with a view of the rooftops...very charming. The price was great and we'd definitely return!
