I found this hotel to be clean and friendly. The owners went out of their way to offer maps and passes to some of the main tourist attractions, included in the price of the hotel. The rooms were simple and quiet, we did not get to sample the breakfast or afternoon tea, but based on the service, I imagine they are also charming. Thank you :) for offering us a pleasant respite :)

Hotel Pallotta is wonderful. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and there are nice touches such as a laundry room, a sitting room on the upper floor with a magnificent view, and access to snacks and beverages in the breakfast room anytime. I like the location, tucked up a street at the end of town opposite the Basilica that lends itself to a more quiet stay, but your never far from the action and beauty of this most spectacular of Italian cities, cannot wait to return to Assisi and the Pallotta. The Trattoria Pallotta, owned by the same people is a terrific eating place with fairly priced, nicely prepared Umbrian dishes, well worth a try.

We arrived in Assisi and had accommodations at Hotel Pallotta - the Restaurant is top rated as well. Hotel Pallotta is in the heart of town and an easy taxi ride from the Assisi regional train station.

Staff is courteous and helpful and they have a continental breakfast service (including GOOD espresso drinks (cap, latte, etc) in the morning and guest access to pastries, espresso drinks, bottled water and other sundries throughout the day INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE ROOM.

This alone has the potential to save a family of 3 about 25 euro if you were instead to visit a cafeteria around town and have the same thing for your afternoon snack.

Staff brought luggage up the outside steps and assisted with steps to rooms on the upper level. Rooms were immaculate, promptly kept around 10 each morning by housekeeping staff while you were down having breakfast, and very comfortable. Windows opened to the street which could be left open, closed or simply shuttered for a late afternoon siesta - a great break after visiting Rocca Maggiore at the top of the mountainside.

The restaurant requires reservations which the hotel staff will make for you and offers an exquisite dining experience of typical Italian fare - english menus are limited, but staff will help you and where there is a communication gap, the phrasebook is invaluable.

If you need to inquire about your train travels elsewhere within Italy a travel agency also very helpful is over a couple streets and around the corner - we were able to find out about an earlier train to Rome that didn't require a train switch in Foligno as originally planned.

Lots to see in Assisi, but you will need more than one day - Central to town is the Basilica de Santa Clara who we learned was part of the missionary work along with the more well known St. Francis. Basilica de San Francesco is a bit further away from the center of town. Trying to see both in one day could be a bit much, but probably can be done if you are more of a skimmer of attractions than an immerser.

We would definitely recommend this B&B and will stay there again for a future trip to Assisi.

Room Tip: I believe our room was representative of all rooms in the place. Because Assisi is built on a mount...

The Pallotta is a wonderful place to be while in Assisi. The rooms are smallish, but carefully composed to provide everything one would need. Everything is comfortable, and it was easy to feel at peace here. The environment was conducive to relaxation. It was warm while we were there, but we still spent some time in the lovely room upstairs. It looked like it could have once been a belltower, but was now an excellent place to have a bird's eye view of the entire city, the castle up the hill, and the valley below. At night, the castle is lighted from below, which gives it a beautifully eerie presentation.

I believe Stefano, our host, said that the hotel was once housing for the Franciscan monks studying in Assisi. The building itself is beautiful, and spotlessly clean, but the hospitality was even better. Stefano came over to the parking area outside of the city to greet us, and lead us into town to the hotel. There are no cars inside the walls of the city, except for residents - and most of them don't have vehicles.

We recognised the Pallotto immediately from the photos we had seen - and it was even more beautiful than the pictures could show. Flowers were blooming in the windows and the wooden shutters in the stone windows just breathed the history of the place. We are not particularly religious, but Assisi is spiritual in a way that can't be described. It has to be experienced. The Pallotta is the perfect place to begin the experience!

The restaurant is an excellent choice for local tuscan or umbrian dishes. Pleasant atmosphere. It might be diffucult to get a table after 20:00h. Reservation recommended or arrival arround 1930. Food portions are not big but of excellent quality. Service is OK with potential to improve. (wine wasn't served by waiter). Pricing is very reasonable taking into consideration quality and location.

Based on TripAdvisor reviews we stayed here one night (only one, sadly) on a roadtrip through the region. Everything you read in these positive reviews is true. Centrally located, nicely kept, nice rooms, etc. We are definitely coming back to stay here longer next time.

I am still puzzled at the odd reviews about the bathrooms. I found them an ingenious retrofitting of modern conveniences into an historic building. We were in the first room to the right on the main floor (107 perhaps?). It had a nice view of the street and square below. A walk up the stairs leads to the belle-view with spectacular 360-degree views of the town and valley below.

We did not receive any sort of complimentary info packet as other reviewers have indicated. Perhaps one has to request it directly?

Our one evening there we sought to eat at their highly recommended restaurant, but not having made reservations we were stymied. Instead, ahost recommended us to "La Fortezza" which is reasonably rated here on Tripadvisor, but it was not a restaurant that we enjoyed. At all.

We loved Assisi! A very spiritual place, where not only foreign tourists come, but also droves of the faithful among Italians, inspired by the life of S. Francisco, S. Claire and their disciples.

If you do stay here (1) make sure you stay longer than a day! (we will stay longer next time) and (2) (in addition to the regular Assisi sights)...make sure you visit the Hermitage Eremo delle Carceri up in the hills (about 4k from town)! A very special and spiritual place.

Hotel Pallotta was the perfect place to stay in lovely Assisi. I stayed there for three nights and wished I could have stayed longer. I was warmly welcomed and provided with lots of information and guidance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent with a good choice. Snacks and drinks were available free of charge throughout the day. Loved the fruit flan! The lovely view from the top of the hotel was a real bonus.
The hotel is easy to find once you take Line C bus from the station right to the terminus at Piazza Matteoti. Some guests left the bus at a lower level, believing it to be the terminus, and it was long climb up with suitcases! There are some very steep lanes in Assisi. From Piazza Matteoti it is a short walk downhill, past the church, and diagonally left to find Via San Rufina
I would recommend the hotel's restaurant, a short walk downhill, situated just off the main square. If I am lucky enough to visit Assisi again, I would not hesitate to return to Hotel Pallotta.
