Owner description: First built as early as the 5th century, this historic church features the baptismal font of St. Francis, St. Clare and Emperor Frederick II.

The cathedral has been altered after the construction. The façade is very beautiful, so if you go when the cathedral is closed, it's ok, because once you go inside, it's like many other churches, nothing special.

There are so many churches in Assisi its hard to know where to start. After going to St. Francis and St. Claire we made our way here. It is a beautiful church. It has a wonderful wing that is dedicated to JPII. There must be more then a dozen paintings of him here.
Its definitely a must visit. You can also go out and to the left to the museum to visit the crypt of the church as well.

A very interesting and little visited museum and church where the Bishop blessed Francis' spiritual awakening. See the baptism where Francis and Clare were baptised.

This is a forgotten jewel in assisi. Most people do St. Clare's and St. Francis but totally miss this part of Assisi. Well worth the visit. Check out the crypt museum.

Check out a hidden jewel in the Assisi crown, the San Rufino museum! You can go under the city and see some hidden treasures in this recently restored crypt. Dont forget that San Rufino is the patron saint of Assisi.
