Description: "Enoteca SanPietro" is located in the old Town of Assisi, close to the homonymous church. The restaurant is a very characteristic e romatic place, especially at dinner time, for its soft lights and the presence of candles on every table. The umbrian traditional cuisine is revisited with imagination and creativity of the chef and cured with seasonal vegetables. "Enoteca San Pietro" also has an excellent choice of the best wines from all over Italy. Air conditioning during the summer and free service. Closed on Tuesday. Free parking in front of the restaurant.

“Delusion...also for us”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2012

As commented by others, we trusted tripadvisor and chose one of the (supposedly) top rstaurants in Assisi. Having tried another one much further down in the list, that however we truly enjoyed, we reckoned this would be surely even better.
1st impact is not good. The place appears as a poor level pub. Nevertheless we gave it a shot. Waiters really nice. However the food quality was below average, especially for italian std. Not much choice and steak was hard and overcooked (not medium as requested). Starters however seemed good (ham and salame and other cuts). FOr a wine place we we weee not struck by an overwhelming number of bottles. First course, penne, alright, but nothing to go back to.
Cutting it short: sorry for the Pleasant people workin there but the place was not of our liking and does not deserve to be rated #5 in assisi.

Dear Guys, I remember very well of you, because we see a lot of variety of people but I had never had to serve two people who ate the dish on the table are removing the paper place mat that serves to set the table, but this is a detail. The dishes that you eat from the first that you had the "penne alla norcina", the steak pork chop that is better to eat well cooked and the meat beef that is better eat medium cooked and two side dishes of grilled vegetabless are the dishes that they returned back cleaned . But did you expect a restaurant with a tablecloth and not a designed environment as it can be our place but surely the price you pay is in line with our environment, and certainly well below the restaurant that you would have wanted a location d 'Excellence as prices and cuisine that this type offers of local ! Sorry for not being up to your expectations but if you had read it right the other reviews, and saw at the photos posted and our responses would have avoided the disappointment.

“Delusion...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2011

Not knowing the city very well we have trusted Trip Advisor to find a place to eat in our one day trip to Assisi. We have called the first one in the list, but it was full and we have than decided to go to Enoteca Sanpietro. It was really a delusion. The place is very simple and with no charm. The service was not nice, the price was quite expensive for the kind of place and food (that was just ok). It was really nothing special...and our question was: How could this be rated as the second best restaurant of Assissi???!!!

Dear Madam,
Thanks for voicing your opinion and so you said you ate well, we are sorry not to have met your expectations, but we can not benefit from his opinion because we do not understand how simplicity can be a defect!
The interior is simple , we wanted to meet our tastes and those of our valued customers who appreciate the culinary traditions and traditional and informal environments.
The fact that we are at the top of tripadvisor is only because most of our guests appreciate the simplicity and for us it is a strength, not a defect.
Only elegant restaurants and fascinating, as you wrote, deserve to stay in the top positions? Well, this is not the spirit of tripadvisor that collects the subjective impressions of travelers without classifying structures according to the stars.

“Truffles! Truffles! Truffles!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2011

We went there based on a recommendation from a nearby store owner and was thrilled to find TRUFFLES on the menu! We had the Truffle appetizer; I had the pennette with sausage and truffle (forget what wife had but it had truffles too) and these dishes were outstanding. On our last day there we stopped in and had lunch and strayed from the truffles and had another outstanding meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we will definitely go back there to dine when we return to Assisi. This is one place I can recommend without any reservations, although you should make reservations for dinner because they fill up!

“Didn't find this restaurant as expected from other reviews”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2011

We specifically sought out Enoteca San Pietro while in Assisi based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and the classification of this restaurant as "vegetarian" which we are. Unfortunately, it is not a vegetarian restaurant and while there were options, not nearly what we had expected. The food was good but not exceptional, and the service wasn't as friendly as we would have liked especially since we had arrived early before the lunch crowds. While it was a fine meal, it was disappointing on a few levels.

“Good Umbrian cooking at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2010

The problem with Assisi restaurants is that they're expensive and the quality is dubious. Enoteca San Pietro bucks the trend with good local food at reasonable prices. The menu is varied - you can eat an enoteca/wine bar style snack or go for the full Umbrian meal - they do a set meal which is remarkable value. I ate there for three nights of a four night stay. Dishes that stand out include the mixed antipasto - salami, ham and bruschetta,The bruschetta with truffles and penne with truffles and walnuts (delicious), The secondi include lamb on skewers, chicken breast with balsamic vinegar, pork chop in breadcrumbs with wild mushrooms and wild boar mortadella. They have an extensive pudding list but the best for me was the proprietor's home made biscotti with sweet local red wine to dunk them in. The wine list is strong but I'd recommend the local house wine, particularly the white "grechetto".
