This is a truly unique setting. This incredible restaurant is above the ruins of a villa dating from 1st Century BC! There are glass floors so you can see the villa stones and tiles and there are other artifacts in cabinets in the restaurant. The owner apparently discovered the ancient villa when trying to find more space for the cellar which holds some great wines.
The decor is modern and classy and it is a perfect location for weddings and special events as well as romantic and corporate dinners.
The welcome and service was excellent and the food was creative and delicious.
The chef came out to meet the guests. His cooking shone.
We had the degustation which included a delicious amuse bouche, heavenly reggiano parmesan souffle, excellent pasta of tortelli with aubergine and buffalo mozzarella and cherry tomato sauce. The main of baby pork with chicken and prune plus zucchini mousse and potatoes was also superb. To top it all off was the divine varlrhona chocolate fondant. Wow!
Do not miss this restaurant in Assisi. It is up there with my favourite meals anywhere!
