After visiting the Basilica in Assisi we took the uphill road rather than the gentler road lined in shops and we found this glorious restaurant that received the trip advisor certificate of excellence for 2013. We totally understand why it earned the certificate after our meal. The day was warm so we were escorted to an upper terrace (they have several with caring amounts of tables) at the rail so that we had a two hour view of the valley below Assisi as we dined. The wait staff hikes up and down several flights of stairs with a smile to bring your choices...ours began with antipasti of melon and prosciutto and bruschetta slathered with Tartuffo , followed by my choice of pasta with porcini, sausage, and truffle in a cream sauce, our son had pappardelle with wild boar sauce and my husband had veal in a balsamic reduction...it was all delicious. Our meal ended with espresso , crosstata and pane cotta with fruits of the Forrest. It was a great stop in the middle of the day surrounded by the gentle sounds of Italian being spoken all around us!
