We spent three weeks in Siena and Nonna Gina's became our 'local'. The food is lovely, nothing fancy, full of flavour and consistently delicious. Their Gnocchi are those soft pillows you love and the sauce is delightful. Food aside, the service was friendly and the attention given to us and our children was really memorable - they will always remember Nonna Gina.
Grazie Mille Lella e Dado e amici !

We enjoyed our first meal in Tuscany at Nonna Gina's and it turned out to be one of our favorites of the 14 day trip. The atmosphere was so charming and welcoming, and the staff was terrific helping us navigate our first attempts at ordering an Italian meal. We shared the melon and prosciutto and the house Chianti, followed by pesto pasta for him and gnocchi with "special sauce" for me. After dinner we enjoyed the creme brulee and were treated to complimentary digestivo of grappa and amaretto. All of the food was outstanding, but we especially enjoyed the atmosphere with many more locals (including family members, I believe) than tourists and we loved that we understood almost none of the conversations happening around us. The experience was everything we were hoping for, and it was remarkably inexpensive given the quality of the food and service. We would go back in a heartbeat.

We just had dinner and can say that their gnocchi dish is pure delight. OMG! These soft pillows are covered with a secret sauce and they melt in your mouth. My husband was the one that really wanted to go here & I really wasn't that excited. But then we got inside and sat a a table and it was soooo.. cute and homey in there. We ordered the melon and prosciutto and some bruschetta to start and then two pasta dishes and house wine. All the dishes are very big, so of course we ended up ordering too much food. But it was an incredible meal. Then to top it off, we got the check and could not believe how inexpensive it was!

This restaurant is a gem. The clientel consists of some tourists, but mostly locals. The food is traditional and local....using only great ingredients, preparation perfectly executed. As good as the food is, it is the service and management that set this small family style restaurant apart from the rest. If you have time, come back for a second or third meal...everything on the menu begs to be tried. Unfortunately, we discovered Osteriea Nonna Gina on our last day. I will be back eventually, until then I can only dream.

We had enjoyed a pleasant morning in Siena, very busy due to the summer tourists but also the practising for the Palio of Siena race the next day, as we hadn't really found anywhere that wasn't packed for lunch we started to head out towards the outside walls and back to where we had parked the car, as we were walking we came across this lovely Osteria, we were a little reluctant to eat there at first as the place was empty and everywhere else was packed. Deciding to stay and eat was a great decision and the place soon filled up with mostly locals many wearing the scarves bearing the colours of their area in Siena. We had carpaccio of beef and peposo a local dish first created long ago by the furnace workers in Florence. The food was superb along with the service. The local wine 50cl carafe for 3.20 euros was a bargain and one of the nicest local wines we had. At the end of the meal two bottles were placed on the table to help ourselves from, a grappa ( a required taste) and an amaretto which was delicious, all part of the 2 euros per head cover charge (including plenty of bread). I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again if I am ever in Siena
