Tucked away in a small alley, the place serves perfect Sienese dishes with friendly, laid back service. Definitely a good find away from the main squares.

We were going back to Tre Cristi after two years, with my wife. This restaurant has all we like: a bit apart from touristical crowds, esthetical and authentic place, good and fresh Italian food - we tried with satisfaction the 3 course sea menu -, style, efficient and friendly service. Price ok for the quality if the food. To be recommended. We shall come back again!

On a one-day trip to Siena with my better half we stumbled upon the Tre Cristi (aka da Tullio) while restaurant-hunting near, but outside, the traditional tourist zone.

We came to it by pure chance, following a couple of plates probably placed a long time ago in the corners of the small streets near Vicolo Provenzano. We arrived at almost 12.25 (the restaurant opens at 12.30) so we were the first to be served that day.
They seated us immediately, then asked us to wait while they changed into suit and tie and finally opened the restaurant.

We found that what really sets this place apart is the service: always present, friendly, ready to discuss plates, wines (and the weather, which helped to break the ice), but not too chatty or imposing. The kind of waiter that listens to your requests, not just presents his/hers ideas (which happens all too frequently).

My wife took the Calamarata (which I have prepared for us many times) and a starter, while I went for the 'Sapori di Mare' degustation menu. I had a glass of Spanish sparkling wine and two of Vernaccia.
The plates were all served quickly (especially considering that Calamarata pasta takes a long time to cook). They were unusual (which really means surprising to me) in the choice of ingredients, tasty, albeit two were a little too salty, and the fish was fresh.

The establishment boasts a long tradition (almost two centuries, if you believe the sign) and the rooms, the toilet-ware, the furniture and the cutlery all proudly show it.

Recommended, we would return.

I've been here a few times, but haver never ordered off the menu. There is a set menu of around 5 courses (maybe more...). Each course was a fish or seafood dish and each tasted AMAZING! If you like seafood, then this restaurant is perfect for a special occassion!
It's a little tricky to find. Living in Siena, I still have to think ho to get there!

Twelve friends on a wine trawell got hungry. Tired of meat we searched for a restaurant with good fish and seafoodrestaurant. Siena, in the middle of the countryside, far from the coast can't be the place for seafood. We were wrong!!! Our exellent Guide Liv from Vrådal, told us to go to Tre Cristi. Don't hesitate it was worth every euro.
