“Best risotto we ever had...”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

This was the best dinner we had in our 18 day euro trip. Vey cosy and romantic ambience, awesome service and food is unbelievably good. We still have the memories of their flavors in our minds. This place is reservations only. We had a ravioli and risotto. The risotto was simply awesome and highly recommended. The chef sautéed it in a drum of cheese in front of us and served it steaming hot. The complimentary bread is fresh out of oven unlike most places we have been to. We loved their Spinach rolls from the breadbasket. We had lava cake with pistachio ice cream for dessert which was nice too.

“Super food, slow service”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

This is a gourmet restaurant, elegantly appointed in a bricklined room. My husband had bean soup to begin, which was only OK. My quail was very good as were the eggs with truffle that I had for the main course. Chocolate cake and frozen yogurt desserts also very good. The problem was that the service was super-slow and by the time the food came one was past caring. We waited half an hour between the antipasto and the main course. For the 120 euro price, we probably would have been happier somewhere else. I rated this restaurant very good because of the general quality of the food, wine and atmosphere. But I personally would not return.

“Wonderful place!”
Reviewed June 3, 2014 via mobile

Had a fantastic lunch here. Got there right at noon and were seated right away. It filled up quickly. From the outside, it is pretty unassuming but inside looks like it was straight from "central casting". Perfect for a romantic meal. The food and service were excellent. The pici senesi (handmade Sienese pasta with wild boar ragu) was outstanding. We were lucky to get in - reservations are recommended.

“really - just wow”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

We visited this restaurant for dinner in April 2014, with a table for 2.

Food: really, really well done. The starter for one of us was the Tuscan appetizer; for the other, the spelt soup with seafood. Both were delicious; the Tuscan appetizer was like a mini-charcuterie board that had a variety of delicious meat. A couple of extra pieces of bread would have been a nice touch. Main courses were the seabass fillet and the seasonal special of a flat steak with black truffles. The seabass was very nice, though nothing too special. The beef was also very nice, but not special - but the truffles knocked the dish out of the park. At the table, the black truffle was grated generously on to the steak, and the flavour and odour just perfected the dish. Really, I've ordered truffle-based dishes at other restaurants, and they have always been ridiculously parsimonious with their truffles - or worse, just used artificial truffle oil. Not so here: the truffle steak was the highlight of the night. Portion sizes were large - no room for dessert.

Service: really depended on the staff member. At first, we felt like the wait staff were avoiding our table; eventually, a staff member arrived who spoke fluent English and took over our table. Service was _much_ better thereon in. (thanks, Marco!)

Value: prices were not cheap, but the meal certainly justified the higher price. While a splurge meal, this restaurant certainly left us with positive memories of Siena, and really, was one of the best restaurants we tried in Tuscany.

Overall: a high-quality meal, with a cost that reflects that. Service was a bit on the hit-and-miss side at first and progressively got better through the evening.

“Fantastic Anniversary Dinner!”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary in October with a fantastic anniversary dinner at Antica Osteria da Divo. I made reservations by emailing the restaurant and was greeted by a very kind response from Executive Chef Pino di Cicco, confirming our reservation and offering to prepare a special dessert for our meal.

We were greeted by Pino when we arrived for our dinner. We were seated in one of the romantic Etruscan nooks. The meal was wonderful. It was truffle season and the truffle risotto was exquisite. My wife had a great pasta dish that was mixed at the table inside of a giant cheese wheel. The lamb chops and the bread soup were also very good. Our dessert was so tasty. A special cake was prepared with fresh cream and seasonal berries.

Thank you to Pino and everyone at Antica Osteria da Divo for providing us with a phenomenal meal to celebrate our first anniversary!
