The hotel is walkable from the train station, but is it a bit of hike. It’s conveniently close to Piazza del Campo. The rooms are clean, stylish, and nicely appointed. Ours didn’t have a great view (the window was near the floor), but the common outdoor space more than made up for that. The breakfast is quite nice, and so is the staff.

We booked two rooms in Villa del Sole for our first family trip to Siena. The teenagers room was ideal as it had a separate mezzanine with a bed so they had a better level of privacy than a twin room normally gives them.
The hotel is fantastic. Beautiful decor, very clean, friendly and helpful staff and walking distance to Piazza del Campo. It's probably more accurate to call it a B&B but don't let that put you off. Reception closes at 8pm but if you let them know when you are arriving they will stay as long as it takes (2am in our case). All the staff are friendly. Shower gel and body lotion are provided and there is a hairdryer in the room. Breakfast is the usual cold meat and cheese with bread, pastries and cereal and good coffee. Again our teenagers are not early risers but the staff were always keen to get some food in them before we left for the day. There is a restaurant attached which we only went to once. We were able to park the car right by the hotel. Just a lovely place.

My wife & I stayed here over the 2nd weekend in July for 4 nights.

We arrived several hours before check in, with no warning, and room was ready for us.

The welcome was warm and the room was brilliant, we stayed in the Deluxe which has beautiful views across the countryside and the town.

The location is brilliant, staff very friendly & helpful, breakfast is good, rooms very well done.

POSITIVES
+ great location
+ spotlessly clean
+ friendly, welcoming, helpful staff
+ well equipped
+ lovely terrace with stunning views for breakfast / chill out

IMPROVEMENTS
- room needed a few more power outlets

Can't go wrong with this place. As a bonus it even has a restaurant below it which we thought dished up our best meal in Siena!!

We have just returned from a four day visit to Siena. Having identified the Villa del Sole, we were not disappointed with our choice. The Villa del Sole is very modern, is located in a quiet residential area of the city but is only a 5-10 minute stroll from the historic Campo and Torre del Mangia.

My wife and I stayed in a Superior room and a friend of ours, who was travelling with us, stayed in a Standard room. Our room had good air conditioning, a large comfortable double bed with a modern bathroom and shower enclosure. A small flight of steps led to an upper area where another bed was situated. This would maybe suit people travelling as a family but I would consider the stairs in the room to be too steep for families with very young children.

The standard room had a similar sized bed and facilities but looked more spacious than ours. That may have been due to the flight of stairs in our room. Both rooms were excellent and more than acceptable to us.

As the weather was very warm during our stay, we were able to take breakfast on the terrace at the rear of the building. The terrace had stunning views of the city in the foreground and Eastern Tuscany in the far distance. Breakfast consisted of a wide range meats, yoghurts, cereals, cheeses, tomatoes, croissants etc. More than sufficient to see three hungry tourists through to lunch.

The staff at the hotel were all very helpful and professional. If we had wanted, Gianluca had offered us various tours of the local area but as this was our first time in Siena and had only four days, we did not have time to see more of the countryside.

We were very impressed with Siena and the city is currently gearing up for the first Palio which takes place early July. The city is split into 17 districts (contradas) and we were delighted to see one group walking past the Palazzo Publicco dressed in their medieval costumes and drumming or waving flags. The Torre del Mangia is worth climbing as you get some stunning views of the city and surrounding countryside. Some of the steps are quite narrow but the effort is worthwhile.

There are many places to eat near the hotel. There is a restaurant at the hotel itself called Tartufo which is worth a visit if you like your food served in the nouvelle cuisine style or if you were celebrating a special occasion. If your wallet is not very flexible, Malborghetto in Via Porta di Giustizia (a few minutes walk from the hotel) and Osteria la Sosta di Violante in Via Pantaneto are also worth visiting.

We would have no hesitation recommending the Villa del Sole and would hope to return in the future.

We had the most delicious pasta with truffle! A great restaurant from where you can enjoy the view a bit outside of the centre. I would advise this to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in Siena. Very friendly staff as well. Only open for a few months, and certainly ready to stay!
