“Breathtaking castle, amazing hospitality!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2014

We stayed in the Tower Room for three nights during our two week honeymoon in Italy and it was incredible! The views of Tuscany are beyond beautiful! The castle is incredibly charming and perfectly appointed. Perfectly situation just outside of Siena, yet you feel like you are far away from the hustle and bustle in a magical place. Nicola was incredibly kind, as was all of the staff. You MUST have dinner at their Farmhouse restaurant- it was the best meal we had on our whole trip- delicious, fresh cuisine and a memorable dining experience! We absolutely loved Castello delle quattro torra and we will certainly be back! If you are planning a trip to Siena/ Tuscany you must stay here.

What a wonderful, marvelous experience. From the grounds consisting of an olive grove and orchard, to the breathtaking hilltop view of the surrounding Italian countryside, to the incredible atmosphere of the beautifully preserved 14th century fortress, staying at Castello delle quattro torra is not to be missed. The owners and staff are quite accommodating and helpful. While the room we enjoyed might have been improved upon with a little better lighting, that minor shortcoming paled in comparison to the ambiance of a romantic stay, dripping with a history almost palpable to the touch, in one of the towers where each view was nothing less than a postcard of one’s dreams. Even though advertised as “continental,” the breakfast was unbelievable. Each guest room is provided its own separate space to enjoy freshly squeezed juice from the surrounding groves, mouthwatering preserves from the nearby orchards, local cold cut meats and breads and even honey from their own hives. This is a lodging of which one simply must partake.

The dinner offered at the associated farmhouse a few kilometers away was intriguing for the drive and its setting. The wait staff was exquisite, and the chef was quite the character. The food was quintessential Tuscan and delicious.

If it is a true rural Italian experience you want, don’t miss this opportunity of a life time.

i read the reviews here and decided to book a room right away, even though we can only spend one night in Siena, and don't have a car.
i looked it all up in google map: bus #52 from Logge Del papa to Due Ponti, check; then take a walk... we've left our luggage in Florence, so the 1.5km walk in a beautiful country road with just a backpack should be no problem, nice and easy.
the only thing i didn't take into account is weather. when we were climbing the tower in Siena, it's all sunny; when we took the bus, it started to rain, when we got off the bus at middle of nowhere, we got caught in a heaviest rain ever. the 1.5 km walk took us half an hour and we got soaking wet when we arrived at the castle.
the staff was very nice and provided us hot tea with honey. the rain actually stopped when we finished tea, and we spent the evening enjoying the fabulous sunset from the 5 or 6 windows of the tower room, drying our clothes with a hair dryer.

for the night, i already booked the restaurant with Nicola, and he's most understanding and agreed to wait one more hour (till we are decent enough for a dinner), then drive us to the restaurant where we had the best meal (service+food)in Italy

if you ask me what i regret most, it won't be the rain, it's the short stay, we would definitely spend more time next time!

btw, taxi is 14 euro to Siena bus station (where you can take the bus to/from Florence), it's just you need to call to get a taxi.

Room Tip: the tower room, furniture are simple but you can enjoy the 360-degree panoramic view through all tho...

My wife and I were spending our 25th anniversary touring Italy, and wanted something romantic and different at the same time. The castello delle quattro was absolutely perfect. It's a bit out of town, and if you don't have a car like we did, the taxi rides are a bit pricey. However, all in all..... Well worth the booking. The rooms are the 1300 century rustic, beds are soft and comfortable, views are insane, and the grounds are worth taking one of the hotels signature wines and grabbing a lawn chair, and take in the views of the valley. Be adventurous and try walking the 3-4 kilometres into town..... Lots to see. Highly recommended!

My fiance and I stayed in the Tower Room and it was a dream come true. The 360 degree view of the Tuscan countryside were amazing (i couldn't stop taking pictures) The owners and staff were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious. I've traveled to Italy several times in the past year and this castle is my favorite spot. Please don't miss out on the chance to have dinner at the farmhouse restaurant. Staying at the Quattro Torra will be an experience you'll never forget!!

My wife and I stayed two nights at Quattro Torra in a "tower room" and one night at the "farmhouse" also operated by the same owner. We used this agriturismo as a base for exploring the Tuscan countryside. This experience is exactly what you dreamed Tuscany should be like. Gorgeous, clean, romantic, classic Tuscan style, and everything a castle-stay should be. Fantastic views of the countryside and Siena. Many hotels have one or two of these things, but the complete package is so hard to find these days. It's hard to believe, but it is true. The owners and staff were wonderful in every way: non-intrusive but seemingly always there when you need them. We arrived late at night: no problem. We are vegetarian: no problem. They answered all of our questions as if we were the first visitors to ever ask. And the hugs goodbye were sincere. Played soccer with the children. Went for magical morning walks through the olive groves. Due to the ideal location, we were able to have this personal experience but still visit all of the Tuscan sights and towns that we wanted to.

Do yourself a favor and eat at the farmhouse restaurant, Le Pietre Vive Siena. And make time for the cooking class with Nonna Ciana. The family style meal at the end of the class should not be missed as you trade stories of local history, Italian/English lessons, etc. Both of these meals were the best food we ate during our entire stay in Italy, and believe me that we were looking for the best meals we could get!

Room Tip: No elevators. Bring your "stair legs" and stay in the tower room! 360 views of Tuscany

We stayed 3 nights in this beautifully restored castle, operated by Nicola and staff. All was done to make our stay in this lovely spot most enjoyable. The accommodations were very tasteful and is the most unusual and quaint lodgings I've ever experienced. I would heartily recommend this to anyone traveling to Siena area. You are very close to Old Town Siena, but enjoy the quite and beauty of the countryside.

Room Tip: Apartment was wonderful for my wife and myself. Tower rooms for younger folks are most interesting.
