“Great accommodation close to Siena”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

Stayed three nights in September and it was a very relaxing experience. We occupied two rooms of a three room wing which had a very large balcony with tables and chairs. The balcony overlooked the Siena countryside and we brought in our own food and ate taking in the spectacular scenery.
Breakfast is not provided and that may be an issue for some. We were touring and had a car so we could easily get to a cafe to start the day.
The owners were lovely people and exremely helpful with things like local sights, recommended restraurants and where to get free parking for Siena only a short 10 minute drive away.
As this was an agriturismo, they made their own wine and olive oil - both highly recommended.
If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful location with good service and excellent accommodation, then you must look seriously at this agriturismo.

Room Tip: Stay in the main villa with the large balcony. I believe there is an annex but I can't comment o...

We had such a wonderful stay here! We absolutly loved our room with the french doors that opened onto a terrace with the most stunning veiws! The Family were so friendly and generous... free tasting of the wine they produce on arrival.. and after we fell in love with their little puppy they sent up a complimentary bottle of wine! The resteraunt they reccomended was the best place we ate in all of Italy! When I needed help on an italian website eleanore was happy to help. Overallhad a great stay and would definitley stay there again! Close to Sienna but you felt like you were in the heart of the countryside.Loved it.

Room Tip: We had the big blue bedroom above the main farmhouse heaps of room and tidy bathroom.

We stayed three nights. The agriturismo is 2km outside of Siena and 2km from railway station, a taxi cost about E10. There are also plenty of buses with a walk of about 500m. We loved the peace and beautiful views of olive trees and vines. Such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of Siena. The family who own this agriturismo were extremely kind and welcoming. We ate out two nights, but the last day we shopped at a fantastic food shop "Siena association" not far from Gramshi got back and relaxed and then cooked the pasta and sauces and ate on the patio.

The location is perfect. About 1-2 miles from Siena in a quiet and serene location on the middle of grape vine and olive trees orchard. In Tuscany you need a car to explore the area. Malafrasca is minutes away from Siena which has free parking next to the fortress/park. You can enjoy the family wine on a porch with superb views of Tuscany and Siena. The only drawback, there is no AC and you have to sleep with windows wide open. The neighbor rooster will wake you up at 5 am.

My husband and loved it from the moment we saw it! The location is about 2 miles outside of the city limits of Siena--about 5 minutes drive time to the center of town in the historic district. But you have to have a car. Luisa and Giovanni built a house purposely to use as an agriturismo, with an entire second floor devoted to vacationers. The reason why this place is an agriturismo is because they have vineyards and olive trees that are harvested. No, you do NOT have to do any work. Because there is a kitchen (plus fridge in bedroom), it is not a bed and breakfast---just a bed with the amenities of a communal living room, dining room, and kitchen. All dishes, pans, utensils, wine-openers, everything is there. Take a look at the pics to see the bedroom, communal areas for the guests, as well as the humongous patio (great for drinking wine and eating at home).

Although Giovanni and Luisa don't speak English in any large amounts, their daughter Elena does. She is going to medical school now. They were all more than hospitable, helping with directions, where to eat in town, roads to take, a bottle of wine, etc. The place was immaculate, towels changed every day, everything spotless. And the bathroom was great, compared to many other Italian bathrooms I have been in. It was large, with a nice shower.

If I go to Siena again, it is the place we are staying. Luisa plants flowers all around the house, in and out of pots, on railings, etc. Since we had this nice big patio, and I am talking maybe 35X20 feet, it seemed to be a meeting place for the travelers staying.

The cost of 80euros (If I remember) was absolutely a deal. You are out of the busy city yet 5 minutes away. Quiet at night (except for a dog or 2 a mile away). The bedroom was huge, with a small eating area at one end.

Room Tip: I think we had the best room. Ask for the one with doors that open onto the patio.

We stayed one day and night at this beatifull place, and we both wished we could stayed longer. The view from our room and balcony was breath taking. There was a restaurant at walking distance and a place to buy groceries was also very close.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull

Family run accommodation located on the outskirts of Siena. We had a car so that was no problem. The family have a small vineyard and olive grove, we were privileged to be given a couple of bottles of wine. There are three basic rooms opening into a communal dining room and kitchen. Our room had a fridge. We stayed for 8 nights and made good use of the kitchen facilities. It was a good base to explore the rest ofTuscany
