This is the perfect location for being close to the city (walking distance) and not in all the traffic of Siena. Podere Il Pero is quaint, quiet and well-appointed. The host, Gianni, is so friendly and helpful. He was very kind and patient in explaining directions, make recommendations of where else to go outside of Siena and full of general useful information. We had a wonderful 3 night stay there.
Breakfast is an optional add ... we had one morning. Typical continental style breakfast that was quite nice for the price.

The facilities you would expect from this charming farmhouse are excellent, the situation, accommodation and breakfast are second to none.
The proprietor Gianni is very friendly and extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. The lovely gardens have nice places for visitors to sit and chill out.
Sienna is only 10 minutes away by local mimi bus.
We thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

We stayed at Il Pero for a night traveling through Siena. The owner Gianni is an attentive host, friendly and helpful in providing recommendations for places to eat. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms lovely. I enjoyed the quaint feeling of the place, decorated to fit in with the location and its rich history. The room was large and very clean. The bathroom was nicely updated with heated towel racks and good water pressure. There is parking on the grounds of the hotel. We stayed in one of the rooms facing the street, which meant some traffic noise in the morning, but nothing terrible.

The podere is about a 20-minute walk to the walled historic city. There is a bus during the daytime but stops around 8pm. We walked one evening into the historic city and back, didn't feel it was strenuous or in any way unsafe. The breakfast was plentiful with many options of fresh fruits, breads, cold meats, cheese, jams, cereals and yogurt. Of course there was plenty of Italian coffee to go around. Overall a very comfortable stay with a filling breakfast, attentive host, and a short walk to all the sights. What's not to like?

When I was searching for a B&B in Siena, I initially looked in town. However, I realized I wanted a place with land and a traditional feel to it. The reviews I read about Podere Il Pero were spot on. Gianni is an excellent host. He is friendly and always making sure all is well. We had an early morning pickup for a full day wine tour booked through him and he set up breakfast early for us to make sure we had something before our trip. We really appreciated that. We walked down the road to the local pizza restaurant for two nights in a row because we loved it so much. We did not have a car and took a taxi to and from the train station, about 11-13 euro each way. We walked into town, which took about 20 -25 minutes. There aren't side walks, but there was room on the side of the road. I felt very safe. There is a bus if you would prefer. We're in fairly good shape, so we didn't mind. I did appreciate the escalators once we got to the city walls! Grab some wine, bread, prosciutto and mozzarella from the nearby stores and enjoy an evening on the patio. If we ever come back to Siena, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We spent 5 lovely days at this B&B in September. This is the perfect base for touring Siena and Tuscany. Old Siena was only 5 minutes Many towns like San Gimignano, Cortona, Greve, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Florence are all within an hours drive. It's less than a 2 minute drive to the highway. Easy on and easy off.

I was first very concerned that this location might be too noisy as it's right near the highway, but surprisingly it wasn't. Our room even faced the highway on the second floor and we never heard anything. The room was very clean and comfortable with its own bathroom. Breakfast was in the building next door and consisted of a hearty continental breakfast. Gianni was very accommodating, friendly and very helpful. He speaks fluent English. We even took advantage of washing our clothes in their machine. No dryer, but that didn't matter. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here as we look forward to going back there again.
