We had a brilliant meal at Sapordivino! The waiters were excellent and very attentive, the food was delicious and the champagne was great too. I highly recommend this fantastic restaurant.

This was supposed to be one of the 'best restaurants in Siena', located in the chic Grand Hotel Continental. However, it was not as good as expected.

Sure, the location is nice, in a decorated atrium, and the staff does their best. However, the (only a la carte) menu is quite limited and offers large plates instead of 'fine' dishes. There is no wine pairing, so you have to order yourself, by glass or bottle.

The dishes were OK, but sounded better than they tasted and due to the large portions were a bit boring.

But if you like to eat big plates of OK Italian food, this could be a good place for you.

Most welcoming and attentive staff so far in Touristy Siena...
Having lunch with very young kids can be problematic in packed Siena city centre restaurant. But not here.
It was a perfect haven for lunch, which was not so light as said; very nicely done risotto and ossobuco! And the kids loved the positive attention from the staff..

We had dinner at Sapordivino on a Sunday evening. The staff were very welcoming and kind. The 'restaurant' is actually a set of tables in the hotel loby, but the environment is nice and the restaurant is quiet and elegant.

The food did not live up to teh expectations. My husband's pastadish was OK, but I think that even I can prepare that. The ossobucco was surrounded by a mountain of solid saffron risotto. It was all edible but not refined.

My own tunasalad was 'odd', the tuna looked like overcooked beef and tasted of not much. The cod that followed had been 'slow cooked' but unfortunately it had also been fished a while ago. It tasted salty but the salt masked a very strong and unpleasant fishy taste. It did not smell nicely at all. I duely ate the fish, but at an adjoining table some more assertive ladies sent it back and I wish that I had had the courage too.

It must be hard for the very nice waiters to have to serve in that place.

The place is indeed not very expensive but that's all one can say;

Sapordivino is at the centre of the Siena and situated inside a 5 star hotel; it is serving tasting menus as well as a la carte menu, which are prepared with care and attention to the details. This restaurant represents an unexpected find for me due to quality of food and drinks.. Tasting menus are at 30 and 40 EUR range and including wine and desserts. Needless to say, If I compare the quality of the dishes and wines served and the price paid it represents a very good value. I noticed that most customers are actually İtalians.
Starters are both traditional and innovative. I had stuffed courgette flowers and foam of the pecorini cheese as well as Tuscany salad with basil and domates, main course tagliatelle with sea food or and deserts including a generous portion of fruit salad were all above the average and good indeed. The dishes, not lacked aromas and more importantly, it wasn't heavy: leaving a over salty and oily taste in the mouth. Service is also good.
İt is actually a small restaurant and suffering from being a part of an hotel, nonetheless a good place to go and have a lunch when visiting Sienna.
