If you are interested in history or politics go there. If not, go there anyway :) even just one hour is enough to see the social message from medieval Siena presented on Lorenzetti's Good and Bad Government fresco series. And the message is not religious but civic and valid even today. Six different scenes reminds us where government's good or bad decisions can lead the whole society. Pity that the bad government side is so badly damaged. Frescos also show you how life was back then. Nice to see and remember while wondering around the streets of historic UNESCO World Heritage site Siena.

Also Guidorccio da Fogliano, famous fresco of a knight on his horse by Martini is amazing.

This was by the way only museum in Siena which totally denied taking pictures. I recommend audioguides - you'll get so much more from your visit if you are not familiar with the history of the building or Siena. The price of the ticket was around 10 euros + audioguide if you take it.

Also the courtyard is beautiful and worth to see. And it is free to visit. In May when I was in Siena Palazzo Pubblico also had a very interesting contemporary art exhibition.

You enter from an atrium near the bell tower. There are some nice sculpts there. Some of the rooms have interesting frescoes including the one with good and bad governments. A number of items are in glass cases. There are some nice old wooden uncomfortable looking benches - especially in the small chapel with lovely carved and inlaid seats. I don't agree with their policy against any photography, and then see multiple tourists just going ahead with pictures.

My mistake, i anticipted more from Museo Civico. The 2nd floor was an outdoor balcony, zero on display. Not worth €9.00 entry, should be €4.00

The extraordinary frescoes in the Palazzo Public are worth the trip to Siena - UNESCO World Heritage. How is it that in the 14th Century, they had figured it out - that Good Government, motivated by the right values, led to a happy, prosperous, healthy society? I wish we were heeding their advice today.... but I'm afraid the Bad Government fresco tells the tale of our modern societies... And more treasures still in this extraordinary jewel of a City Hall.

It is well worth paying the entry price - the ceiling paintings are quite interesting. Not surprised to find that in Renaissance times builders also had some underwear issues
