We recently returned from 2 1/2 weeks in Italy. In each location we hired a guide, but none could compare to Stella. Stella made Siena come alive for our family and kept our three kids engaged the entire time (not easy with teenagers). She even pulled off a miracle and got us prime space on a balcony overlooking the Campo to watch the Palio trial races. It was the highlight of our vacation. Stella is personable, engaging and so very knowledgable. Do yourself a favor and book tour with her ... and don't forget to ask her for a restaurant suggestion before you leave Siena. We're still drooling over the meal we had in one of Stella's favorite places. Thank you, Stella, for an amazing morning!

Stella was great. We had a transportation issue and she assisted by setting up a car to pick us up 20 km from Siena.
She took us through town and showed us the highlights, we watched the practice race and then she gave us great direction for our per existing plans for the Palio. We were more comfortable knowing where things were thanks to Stella.

Stella shares her passion for her city (as well as her contrada!) on her tours so that you are truly touring with a local and not just a hired hand. We happened to be in Tuscany during the Palio and Stella made sure we saw many related festivities including a trial race and arranged tickets for a contrada dinner where we were joined by her family. Much more like hanging out with friends and family than a tour. Amazing experience!

Stella made Tuscany come alive. A native of Siena, she has studied languages, art and history. A more enjoyable tour guide, I cannot imagine. Full of energy and stories, yet a good listener, Stella not only directed us to the favorite attractions, she also introduced us to merchant friends with unique stories of their own. The city came alive as we understood the oldest of rivalries and competitons and the newest financial challenges Siena faces. The maintenance, upkeep, constant restoration of Siena is a responsibilty these families take very, very seriously.

We took am afternoon photography tour with Stella. She led us through town to great places for photo opportunities while telling us about the history of Siena along the way. We had spent the morning in Siena by ourselves just wandering, but the day significantly improved once she shared her extensive knowledge about the town. We learned about the different contradas and even got to see 2 of the contradas parading through town (we had seen them in the morning but had no idea what was going on until Stella told us). We saw areas of the town we never would have ventured to without her. Saw many little side streets and a hidden Synagogue. We also stopped by a store and got to sample panforte. This was by far one of our favorite days on our trip to Tuscany. She is very friendly and her English is excellent. I would recommend her to anyone going to Siena.
