“A 'must see' in association with il Duomo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2014

When visiting Siena Cathedral, a visit to the adjacent Baptistry really is a 'must'. It is a beautiful building with an absolutely fascinating interior, the highlight of which is the great font which has artwork by some of the most highly acclaimed sculptors of its age. The walls of the baptistry are also inspirational with their intricate murals. The Baptistry has a totally different atmosphere from il Duomo but is equally as beautiful in its own way. It was originally the baptismal church for the whole of trhe town and carries a wealth of history.

“As beautiful as the church”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

you can pay to visit this place together with the cathedral. The visual is as beautiful as the cathedral and as the space is smaller and it´s not so easy to found (just behind the church) you feel more confortable to enjoy it.

“A gem of architecture, painting and sculpture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2014

The title says it. The font with its bas-relief by 3 of the most famous sculptors of the Italian Renaissance is a must-see and the beautiful Madonna would be worth a visit for itself, add to those the wonderful murals throughout and this is an undoubted gem.

“A Little Gem at the bottom of the steps behind the Cathedral”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

After having been around the Duomo and all the other sites with numerous frescoes ... they seem to love them in Siena! You're probably overloaded with religious art that one last visit to the Baptistry is probably unappealing. This however is well worth a visit, it has great art and a wonderfully intricate baptismal font but what sets all this apart is the intimacy of the space, it has a truly wonderful feel, a real contrast to the impersonal space of the Duomo at the top of the steps.
