We stayed at Frances' Lodge for 5 nights as our home base to explore the Tuscan countryside. Franco and Franca were the warmest and most inviting guests - they made sure that every need was met. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and the perfect start to the day. Every morning Franco would ask us if we needed help planning our itinerary and he would take the time to draw out detailed maps for us to follow - and all of his recommendations were absolutely perfect!
The location of the lodge is ideal - beautiful sweeping views of Siena and the countryside but only a quick 5-10 minute drive to the city center. I would definitely recommend renting a car - not only can you drive through the Tuscan hills and explore the surrounding medieval cities, but it's also much more comfortable for getting around.
As a parting gift, Franco gave us a small bushel of their home-grown lavender. It's already making my bedroom smell divine and it'll remind me of my beautiful stay every night.

Our stay at the Frances Lodge was the highlight of our three weeks in Italy. Franca and Franco gave us a warm welcome the very first moment we arrived by taxi. We truly appreciated all the little gifts from the welcoming basket of fruit in our room to the parting gifts. During our five night stay, our family enjoyed many conversations with our hosts on the beautiful patio overlooking the city of Siena. The breakfasts each morning were much more than we expected, especially the homemade croissants, jams, yogurt, and honey plus the perfectly cooked eggs. The advise and driving directions for our day trips, restaurants and tours were extremely helpful. We felt like part of the family. We hope to return to Tuscany and look forward to spending time at the Frances' Lodge.

If you are looking for a Tuscany estate that is a quiet get a way from the hustle and crowds of Rome, Florence, and Venice then, Frances Lodge is for you. Overlooking Siena and the beautiful countryside, Frances Lodge is a quite respite run by a delightful couple who cater to making your stay as comfortable as possible. We spent four nights with Franca and Franco and we could have stayed much longer. Our room, the Rose Room, was modern, clean, had a full bathtub and shower. It also had a beautiful view of the manicured rose garden. The breakfast was fresh, prepared that morning and was something to look forward to. Both Franca and Franco was very attentive to our needs and made outstanding recommendations on day trips and places to eat. When we come back to Italy, we will once again stay at Frances Lodge.

We found this place through Rick Steves and stayed there for two nights. The place is beautifully decorated and it's very comfortable. It's just a few minutes drive from Siena so it's a nice alternative to staying within the city walls. The garden and the grounds are magnificent and the views of Siena and the hills are breath taking. Franco and Francis are excellent hosts, and their homemade breakfast is top notch. You can rely on them on getting tips about anything related to the area.

We stayed 2 nights with Franca and Franco, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, at this lodge just outside of Siena, with a lovely view of the city across the valley. The lodge (once upon a time the barn and limonaia for the family farm) is "elegant with touches of rustic," which befits the lodge and the heritage of this well-situated location with spacious views. The hosts are happy to provide helpful and knowledgeable guidance for getting around the area, and with pictures of their various travel destinations throughout as part of the decorative motif, you can also delve into interesing conversations about other locations too. The sumptuous and delicious breakfast, featuring local jams, yogurts, etc., was a delightful start to our days in Siena. We look forward to returning to Siena, and to Frances' Lodge!
