Mom and daughters who run this little gem are delightful to talk to and offer a wealth of information to make your Siena experience more enjoyable. We chose the larger room with twin beds and wonderful view. Shared bathroom with this was no problem, room does have sink & mirror. As some have mentioned the beds were not soft and comfy like home, but we found this generally the norm for European budget B&Bs. In complete agreement with all the other comments regarding the pleasures of sitting on the terrace and soaking in the spectacular sunset views. Overall an excellent value choice in Siena.

Room Tip: Larger room with twin beds has splendid view, if you don't mind shared bathroom. It does have a...

clean and charming, adequate breakfast with spectacular views from the terrace and sitting room and a really wonderful young woman receptionist who was most helpful. but like many places in italy, the beds are incredibly uncomfortable. two different rooms on two consecutive nights because the place was fully booked and we were late comers so juggled around a bit - the first just hard, the second rock hard mattress but with a big sway in it - just kept sliding down to the point where i had no purchase and had to sleep on the single bed while my husband wrestled with the double. Not sure if owners ever try out their sleeping arrangements but this was the worst we had in italy and that's saying something. If I recall it was room 2, which overlooks the side alley, but do check.
also, get a cab or bus from outside the train station or top of the escalators to the auberge - we were intrigued by the escalators (excellent supermarket at the bottom if you need supplies for the train) but once up the top it's a slog to the historic town.

Sometimes the expectations raised by previous Tripadvisor reviews aren't always fulfilled and this place was one of them. It is in a very good location, the terrace view cannot better well it could be if some of those Americans got out of the front seats and let others sit there. The room was a bit 1950s but that had a certain charm but now the negatives,. We are of an age when we need en suite so we paid the extra 20 euros what we didn't expect is to have a virtual shared bathroom in the sense that every time someone used the next door adjoining bathroom we heard everything. There was a translucent window so during the night our bathroom was lit every time the other one was in use. The wonderful breakfasts written about in the reviews. Hot chocolate like that you can in England. The breakfast is no choice. It is what comes on the tray. So if you don't like sugared croissants well hard luck. No TV in the rooms but never told whether TV in communal area was for our use. Never told if computer was for general use was that the free wifi. Being shy English rather than extrovert Americans we like to be told rather than ask all the time. The hosts we would say are a little shy but when you do ask say about the contrade they are a mine of family and historical information.

My wife and I stayed at Albergo Bernini in a double room with shared bath for three nights in October,2011. It was clean and comfortable. There was not too much competition for the three bathrooms. The best feature of the hotel is the great breakfast terrace with six or seven tables overlooking the city--the Duomo in one direction and the nearby Church of San Domenico in another. We had the small continental breakfast for 3.5 Euro each morning which suited us fine. Our best dinner was at La Taverna Di Cecco at Via Cecco Angiolieri 19. Albergo Bernini is a short walk to the Piazza Gramsci, which is the terminal for the bus to Florance. We booked (through the hotel) a very enjoyable half-day minibus tour of the Chianti region. We visited two quaint towns and to interesting wineries which provided bread, cheese, and modest pours of a number of wines.

This was by far our favorite hotel we stayed in Italy!!
Their terrace was ABSOLUTLEY  AMAZING with the most beautiful view of the duomo and the city.. as was our room! ILaria, who runs the place, was an angel.. very helpful and goes out of her way to accomodate the guests. This place is incredible value and feels like a 5 star hotel the way they manage it. You wont be disappointed. And we LOVED Siena!!!! We were very lucky to have been there when the Oca (goose) contrada (neighborhood) was celebrating their July win of the pallio (horse race). Very authentic, traditional city!

Room Tip: Ask for the big room facing the duomo for unbeatable view!

We really enjoyed our time here--what a great, affordable find! Albergo Bernini is located in a fabulous location, Carlotta (our host) is the sweetest and most welcoming person, our room (number 11) had fabulous views and was big and airy, the breakfasts-continental or full- are optional (3.50E to 7.50E) and offer scrambled eggs, toast, pastries, juice, cereal, coffee, fruit....and are served on....the most incredible terrace! The terrace view of Siena took my breath away...cool morning light filters the medieval neighborhood and then golden colors set it ablaze at dusk. The establishment isn't large, so there's an intimate, easy-going feel throughout...room 11 didn't have a bathroom but there was one right across our door, always clean. Bernini isn't a boutique hotel with plush towels; it is, however, perfect if you don't require those types of things. It can be very noisy at night if the Contradas are celebrating but I would stay again in a heart-beat and thank Carlotta for being so hospitable.

Room Tip: Room 11 has lots of light, great views and is spacious.
