I had read numerous reviews of this place, but none mentioned the highway noise. It was significantly loud with the windows open. The walk to town is also very noisy, not a pretty walk in the woods. The apt was functional, but not charming or pretty. The pool is not heated, so it is very cold. Not a place I would return to.

Thank you to Angela for making our stay so wonderful! She was very flexible and accommodating when we found out we could only make a reservation in Firenze at the Uffizi the Saturday we were suppose to check in. Luckily, Angela waited for us and we were able to get into the Uffizi an hour earlier. We took the train from Firenze to Sienna then took a taxi to Le Meridiane (it cost around 8-9 Euro). We stayed in a lovely one bedroom apartment on the ground floor with a terrace where we ate most of our meals. My children loved the pool and outside chess set. The views were fantastic. We had just come from Rome so we needed to have some down time before continuing on...

On Monday, we had reservations in Pisa, Angela made taxi reservations as we had to leave around 6:30am. The taxi arrived on time and we were off to Pisa on the train. We made it home in the afternoon for a swim.

The next couple of days we walked into Sienna. It took about 25-30 minutes with an elevator ride and a couple of sets of steps.

We bought our groceries in town near the bus stop. We dined alfresco on our patio using the barbecue at Le Meridiane.

Note there is a newer mall across from the train station which was not in our Rick Steves book - take the bus on the lower level of the mall to return to Le Meridiane.

We stayed here 5 days. Found it through Tripadvisor and contacted the property directly. Rate: 125 euros, which is really cheap.
Nice apartment, clean, rather large bedrooms and bathrooms, not luxurious. Pool is great with kids, and especially when it is 90 degrees.
Half a mile down the road is a little supermarket and a fantastic coffeeshop/bar/pizza restaurant, open 7-10.
Siena is a beautiful city and a great hub to explore Tuscany.

First, don't let the website fool ya. It's not a luxury hotel. It's a place where mostly families go - and there are a lot of Europeans there.

Also - it's Not a short walk to the center of Siena (behind the walls). There is a steep hill. And there is a bus, but still, don't walk if you aren't in shape.

We were fairly satisfied with our 2 bedroom apartment. The rooms are big - high ceilings, lots of space. Ours overlooked the pool, which was really nice, the kids loved it. The room was clean for Italy (meaning the tile floor was always dusty, otherwise...). Our place was high up, so we didn't have the heat, and we got a great breeze. And - best of all - no mosquitoes! :)

The main room was not dark - one of the bedrooms was, the other wasn't. Nice linens on the beds, good beds, good shower, not too noisy. There are some really cool grocery stores - be sure to go to the Coop by the train station. Bigger than a football field. Just don't go on Saturday evening...

Take time to look at the gorgeous roses down by the chess set. I want to know what kind they are!

Our beefs? Minor, considering. Not all of the stove burners worked, and the TV didn't work that well, either, but we weren't there for that. It also would have been good to have a change of towels sometime during the week. And a second chair in the living room - if you have two bedrooms, there are more than two people staying, usually. A small couch isn't enough seating!!!

We were very surprised to read some of the negative comments about Le Meridiane. Our stay at Le Meridiane and Siena was the highlight of our trip to Italy. We stayed in Apt 4A ; we had a beautiful view of the olive groves on the property. The Apartments are very well maintained and clean, with huge windows. You can hear the rooster crow in the morning! We would eat out on the porch; no, it's not fancy but still very pleasant. The kitchen is very well equipped. The pool is also very nice and it's great to relax there during the afternoons, especially when your kids are tired (and cranky) after the morning out. It is possible to walk to the center of Siena, but the trails are steep and hilly at some points. We would often walk one way and take the bus back. Later in the evenings you can drive into town, since finding parking gets easier in the evening. Angela was wonderful- she was very helpful and patient and went out of her way to assist us. The price of the apartment was unbelievably low compared with all the other apartments and B & Bs we stayed in. We highly recommend Le Meridiane and would go back there on future trips.
