My wife & I spent 2 wonderful nights at Palazzo Ravizza in mid-October. We highly recommend this excellent hotel for it's high level of comfort and service; also, we especially recommend reserving a 'garden view' room for a gorgeous view over the grounds and out across the Tuscan landscape.

Our room (#12) was larger than we'd expected for a 'Standard' room, made more impressive by the 12' ceilings and inlaid wood floors. Certainly the amazing view out of the huge window helped too. I must say the bathroom & shower were small, but certainly clean & well-furnished.

We chose our first night to dine in the restaurant and were very pleased with the food and service. The breakfasts each morning were fantastic as well, offering all types of meats and cheeses, fruits, cereals, pastries, juices and wonderful coffee!

In the end, we wished we'd booked our room for longer than 2 nights so we could keep enjoying both the beauty of Siena and the hospitality of Palazzo Ravizza.

Lovely place, great yard with amazing view. The team was very friendly and helpful. Although we checked out early morning, we could leave the car in the parking lot for the rest of the day. I wish I could spend there more time than 1 night. May be next time in Siena.

We stayed 4 nights at this lovely older pensione and loved every minute of it. We had requested Room #50, a loft room recommended through Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! When we opened the shutters to the window, we were astonished to find the most beautiful view imaginable of the Tuscan hillsides and sunset. We had copied down some detailed instructions about how to get there and were glad we did. You enter through the San Marco gates, turn immediately left (there is a sign for the hotel). Then you go through a one-way section controlled by a light. At the end you turn right. Then, a couple of streets later you turn right on Via Pian del Mantelinni (hotel is midblock on the right) to drop off your bags and check in. They will direct you to their car park which is below adjacent to the hotel. The breakfast was great and the service was outstanding. Matilda (sp?) helped us with a problem with our rental car (it was overheating) and arranged to have a new one delivered within hours. She also made restaurant reservations for us and helped us with directions. Everyone who works there is so helpful and pleasant. They also have 2 computers to check e-mail in the lobby which is very convenient. Our room was very pretty and comfortable and the view was priceless. They give a 10% discount for 4 nights or more stay. It made a great base camp for our exploring of the Tuscan hill towns and Chianti region. Sienna is also fabulous itself. The winners of the Palio race (Torgugas) were having a celebration the night after we arrived and invited everyone to participate in wine, food, music, dancing and fireworks. What a place! The Italians really know how to enjoy life and are happy to share it with everyone.

The loft room allows budget travelers the opportunity to experience this great hotel. Our room overlooked the gardens and Tuscan country - certainly worth requesting. The room was pretty basic, but the bathroom was large and beautifully tiled. Best breakfast we had in Italy. Free internet and parking are bonuses.

On arrival at the hotel Pensione Palazzo Ravizza we were impressed with the friendly greeting at reception, the beautiful decor of the ground floor and the relaxing gardens. However, room 37 (a superior room) was a completely different matter. We were on Honeymoon and felt as though we were staying at a convent. The stark decor, dirty, bare and cold floors. Old, cheap and chipped furniture. Noisy roadside view. Bathroom- dingy and shower unit dirty. Basically we had a room which had been stripped of all the basic comforts one would expect of any hotel. (I have stayed at better hostels). We could not stay one night in this room and subsequently moved to another hotel. We would not recommend this hotel for fear that someone else may have a similar experience to ours.

The Palazzo Ravizza is conveniently located and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very large but somewhat dark, with no useful light for reading. It needed a standing lamp for the armchairs. The room also faced the street which is very busy and noisy with bright lights all night. In addition, the church next door rang its chimes every hour, with one chime on the half hour. Unfortunately, by government decree the air conditioning was turned off (beginning of fall) and the room was very hot. We had a choice of keeping the shutters closed to keep out the noise and light, while putting up with the heat, or opening the windows to cool off while admitting a lot of noise and light. Neither was very satisfactory.

Breakfast was excellent, with a large choice of meats, cheeses pastries, etc., as was the restaurant where we ate dinner the first night there. Parking is convenient and the back garden is lovely. Views from the rooms facing the back are spectacular, overlooking the garden and valley outside the city walls. Free internet service is available.

We would stay here again, but only if we could get a room facing the rear.

We stayed at five different hotels while traveling in Italy. This was hands down, our favorite! Absolutely beautiful! High wood beam ceilings, decent size rooms, and shutter windows that open out over the courtyard/hills of Tuscany. Breakfast is served in the courtyard (weather permitting) with incredible views. Several areas on the ground floor to read, play games, use the computer (free for guests) or just enjoy your quiet time. Very friendly and helpful staff as well as free parking. We would definitely stay here again.
