Stayed here for just one night in March and the Palazzo Ravizza was all we could look for in a hotel. Normally there's one or two things that could be better in a hotel, but this once ticked all the boxes.
Central, just a short walk to the centre of Sienna (5 minutes at the most), but with free parking available. The only difficulty we had was finding the place and once we had identified where we were on the map working out how to get to the hotel. There are a number of roads in sienna which are marked as restricted access, and being a foreigner in Italy, i was unware i could drive down these roads if i had a hotel reservation. Once i was told this I was then able to park outside the hotel and get directions to the car park from reception once we had checked in (very easy to find the hotels car park from the hotel).
Historic. It was good to stay in a place which has a bit of history and available for a reasonable price rather that a standard characterless chain hotel. In reception there are some 4 page guides telling you about the history of the place which was interesting. Also on the first floor there was a large room laid out like it would have been a century or so ago which was a bit different and provided added interest.
Clean. The place was clean and although our room wasn't spacious it was adequate. Some of the furniture and fittings were worn from age, but in my view this adds a bit to the hotels character, but were clean. Because we were only booked in for one night we got a street facing room rather than a back facing view over the surrounding countryside but this was fine (not noisy).
Comfortable. Very comfortable, large bed
Breakfast. Good by Italian standards, the usual continental breakfast (no cooked breakfast, but didn't expect this anyway in a hotel of this size in Italy), was of good quality, and i especially enjoyed the fresh natural yoghurt.
Garden. Nice garden over looking the hills looking way from Sienna. An ideal place to enjoy a drink, if the weather would have allowed it (it was March after all)
Staff. Friendly and helpful.
Would i stay here again? Definitely. If i was returning to Sienna, or even looking to visit the surrounding areas and wanting to stay in a town rather than the country this would be my first stop. Might not suit someone looking for a luxury hotel, but i can't see many people having much to complain about at the Palazzo Ravizza.
