“Good homebase hotel for touring Tuscany area by car.”

Located on the northwestern edge of Siena with plenty of onsite parking. Easy in and out of Siena. Not the best location if you want to explore Siena itself since it is a long walk to the old town. A city bus is available. Room was clean and well appointed. Bed was uncomfotable, but typical of beds in Italy. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Resturant at hotel is very good for both breakfast buffet and for dinner if you want to stay in one night. Gardens are nice but not as well maintained as we expected.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the main building otherwise there is no view and it is much less convenient. to...

Hotel Garden provided a very comfortable place to spend 4 nights in Siena. The bus from Florence stopped right outside the hotel entrance -- as did the Siena regional bus to the old city. The walk to the old city was only 15 minutes -- which is want we did most days. I agree that the views from the terrace to the walled city were stunning -- especially in the evening when the city landmarks are illuminated. The breakfast is very ample and included in the room rate; the drinks in the bar are reasonable, and the nibbles ample and free. The only slight negative is that the WiFi is not free - and kept cutting out on me -- however, the front desk was nice about resetting the ID/PW at no additional fee. The gardens are lovely and provide a nice picnic setting.

Excellent service here overall. The barman was a legend and the restaurant was very good. Just outside the bar you're afforded some amazing views of Siena and surrounding areas, which would be hard to find in the city. The views and the beautiful gardens give the hotel a romantic charm. The hotel is a 10 Euro taxi ride from Siena train station. There is a bus line (6) which runs from right outside the front gate of the hotel to the city centre and you can buy tickets from the hotel. It's a 10 minute bus ride into the city and they run every 30 minutes. You can also catch a bus to San Gimangano from a stop nearby the hotel. There's plenty of parking at the hotel for those driving.

This hotel has plenty of parking, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast is good. What's less than ideal is the layout with multiple buildings, where, as in our case, one can get stuck with a room that is basically in a subterranean level of the "Casablanca" building. So literally no view out of our window, and kind of a dim setting. The hotel is pretty old, and the vibe is as you'd expect from an old Tuscan hotel. Lots of wood and old school upholstered furniture littered throughout. The rooms are nonetheless pretty comfortable and the bathroom is reasonably modern and nice. Nice tv's and other updates. The place does lack in some of the details that I come to judge hotels quite harshly on lately. Namely, pay per use WiFi. It's 20 dollars for a "week long pass" which is the only economical way to get internet access unless you're only staying for a day....it's the standard tiers of payment (1 hour, 1 day, 1 week) options....can't remember how much the first two were. Anyway, the breakfast was pretty good overall, with a very sound selection of food, but the coffee was barely drinkable. This is another pet peeve of mine with hotel accomodations, so take that for what it's worth.

The last negative that lowered this hotel into the average range for us was the location. We didn't do enough do diligence planning out our activities and in the end, it was a bit of a hike 30-40min of walking to the city center. If we had focused entirely on wine tours and more of the country sights around Tuscany, this would have been a perfect home base, but if you plan to spend a bunch of time in the city center, then look for something that's a bit more central.

Room Tip: avoid the Casablanca building if possible.

We recently stayed at this hotel during a trip in Tuscany and loved everything about it. Rooms were gorgeous and tastefully decorated, huge bathroom, stunning view of the 'walled' portions of Siena out the windows. The restaurant offered a delicious and varied breakfast bar each morning. We stayed in four hotels total during our trip and this was by far the best.

Dear Nancy W,
our staff is honoured to receive your nice words.
Hotel Garden is a gate to the old city, being out from the wall, but not that far from the pedestrian area of the old city.
From the main Villa and our ample terrace there is a beautiful view of the city, so that guests can have dinner or a nice cocktail in total relax.
We are glad that you experienced that all here with us.
Thanks

If you are traveling to Tuscany - Hotel Garden in Siena, Italy, should be your destination. Whether you want to visit Florence, San Gimignano, or winery tours, it is just a short walk through their lovely garden to the bus stop. We had the old world charm which is more difficult to find in the city. Our room was large, airy and sunny. The staff at Hotel Garden have been the best in our travels of Europe! Whatever questions I had, they went above board to be helpful - 24 hours a day. Friendly, courteous (with my limited Italian) and helpful. The restaurant on site had a varied menu for our four day stay. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Siena.

Room Tip: Ask for the garden view. We were the only couple in the entire complex with a balcony view of the g...

We stayed for eight days in September and loved it. The hotel was a mixture of old world charm with painted ceilings and antique style furniture together with spacious and modern bedrooms and bathrooms. The outside space was superb with several terraces, swimming pool and very pretty garden walks. The breakfasts were absolutely fabulous with a fantanstic choice of menu. We also enjoyed all our evening meals where the food was delicious and well pesented with a good choice of wines which were not at all expensive. However, best of all were the staff who were all very friendly, helpful and many of whom spoke excellent english although we did try out our basic italian from time to time and the staff were happy to correct our grammar and pronounciation when asked. We would certainly recommend it and would stay again. Not absolutely perfect but all the better for it - total perfection does not make for true comfort!

Room Tip: We were in the Casablanca annexe which was only about 60 seconds walk from the main building where t...
