We stayed one night in this hotel as a stage of a longer trip towards southern Italy. For us it was important to have a relaxing sleep and a good breakfast to make our long journey as comfortable as possible. This hotel was excellent for this, our room was clean and calm, the hotel is nice, not too far away from the centre, and the service which the staff gave was very friendly and professional. I would choose the same hotel next time.

I have stayed at Accor hotels all summer, for about the past month. They are usually quite good. This particular hotel has disappointed me the most.
1) They charge for internet.. not just in your room, but even in common areas... even the girl on the desk was apologetic, but apparently it is a particular passion for the hotel manager to charge for internet. This is a "Mercure" hotel and it should provide services such as free internet!!
2) They advertise themselves as "on the threshold of the walled city"... in fact they are a good 3 km from the wall and there is no way you would walk it... this hotel is nowhere near the city.
3) Worst breakfast buffet I have had at any Accor hotel in Europe (including ibis) bread, cheese a few cold cuts, and that is it!
4) I arrived just after 1pm. The desk clerk was very unfriendly and it seemed that I was disturbing him, He said I was too early, but he said "let me check to see if I have a room that is ready".... read on, as it turns out, the hotel was virtually empty, and it is a big hotel.
4) The hotel was virtualy deserted... there were maybe 10 guests at breakfast and the parking lot was empty...in the height of tourist season!!... say no more
Avoid this hotel.

I stayed at Mercure Siena for two nights but what surprised me was the quality of the service and how good the employees were trained. From the front desk team to the restaurant staff, they were caring and gentile. I highly recommend you to stay there! =)

I stayed with my two kids in a twin bedroom and had plenty of space to sleep with my two kids. Breakfast was included and ok. A bit outside of the center but provides free parking. Relatively new hotel with no particular facilities, but provides all the basics well including aircon.

I stayed here as part of Cosmos tour.

This was one of the better hotels on the tour as hotels selected on tour were up and down.

The location would be the weak point as not right in town but fine for our tour as using it only as a base to sleep for the night.

The twin room I received was more than than adequate as it was of a large size and bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a shower over tub. It also had toilet and bidet. The only quibble I had was the tv had no English channels and only seemed to be all in Italian.

The breakfast was pretty good and they had scrambled eggs and small sausages which was a departure from pure continental breakfast on trip so was happy about that. It was one of the nicer breakfasts on the trip.

Did not converse much with staff as baggage was already in room but they seemed pleasant enough.

If you don't mind being slightly out of the centre then this hotel would be recommended.

Having read the reviews here, I thought it cannot be too bad.

Well, some of the reviews here were spot on. I am currently stay here due to company policy and I will be recommending to disapprove this hotel.

The lobby was and looked hospital like, cold and uninviting. No soft finishings to absorb all the noise bouncing from hard surfaces. Though, there were plenty of chairs and sofas none were comfortable and cheap.

They changed the first room as it was next a very noisy elevator. The I am currently in is passable, but with a section of carpet threadbare. The tv was dire and the size of a computer monitor. Further, there was international or foreign tv except Italian channels. These basic aspects are NOT of a four star rating possibly a three star and that is pushing it.

However, it was fair to say, it seems the hotel management has improved it that what I have witnessed so far, that it was clean, room and bathroom spotless. But, no room Internet, how can it be a business hotel just astonishes me. Only in the lobby you can have paid access at 3eur/2h. Probably pushing guests to use the bar for the business.

So, I cannot recommend it as a business hotel.

I shall see tomorrow morning for breakfast if it is as decent as other reviewers have mentioned here and report back.

The first room was

My first impressions at the reception I found 2 staff though diligently attentive to the guests they were serving. When one finished, a friend or colleague arrived and continued into the back room, knowing there was a small queue of guest behind me. Did not at all excuse herself. Eventually, returned and served me, but not a word
