“Awe-inspiring”

The Biblioteca Piccolomini is a wonderful sight that is included in the ticket with the Siena Cathedral. I found the room to be hands down the most stunning part of the cathedral. The multitude of colors and the golden borders dance across the room. People who are less into history and religion still can very much appreciate visiting there.

“I STILL FEEL THE FRESCOES WERE PAINTED YESTERDAY”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

I love the much underated painter Pinturiccio, corny but true they STILL DO LOOK AS IF THEY WERE PAINTED YESTERDAY. One of the many treasures of Sienna, for art lovers visit the Museo and the Hospital frescoes nearby, often missed by visitors.

Part of our tour of the duomo . Too beautiful to miss. Take your time. A colorful contrast to the monochrome cathedral

Holding incredibly illustrated music books and walls decorated with vividly coloured narrative frescoes by Pinturicchio, the room is a beautiful sight.

“Breathtaking”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

I wasn't expecting much inside the cathedral. The usual stained glass, gilded altars and musty smell of old hymnbooks. However, I was surprised. Not only is the interior rather unusual, but I discovered the Piccolomini Library. Amazing old illuminated manuscripts all on display and free on a Sunday. What a pleasant experience!
