There are several very cool transcripts in here, but I enjoyed the 4-bar musical scores written by monks around 500 years ago!

It might be easy to enjoy the Duomo and somehow miss the entrance to the Piccolomini Library therein-- you do have to keep your eye out for the little door that leads in, but hopefully a line of amazed visitors will be a good tip-off. This room was one of the most beautiful I've seen in Italy (which is of course saying a lot). The paintings are fresh and the color is undiminished after hundreds of years-- obviously conservators have been doing an excellent job caring for these beautiful Humanistic treasures. If just for the atmosphere and aesthetic enjoyment alone, the visit is worth it. If you're a fan of Renaissance thinking, all the better-- there's so much to love here.

The Duomo is incredible but this biblioteca is the best part of it for me. The colors are so vivid and alive. The room is not so large that it gets overwhelming or too much like some other art places in Italy.

I can not compare how much more I enjoyed this then the Sistine chapel. It was so much more alive and relaxing too. Part of your tour of the Catherdral , it is very beautiful. There is a story to each panel and the music that is displayed and the art work by the monks is beautiful. Don' t miss this on your tour. Stunning. The colors are amazing as well as the artwork.

The main theme is religious and the variety is outstanding. It has more of the local artists from the Siena area which is quite different from Florence.
