We arrived in Siena just after the lunchtime rush, with the children getting hungry. We fell on this restaurant more by accident (it was the first one we found closest to the parking). What a great discovery!
The owner takes the orders himself - a really nice man who listened to what we wanted and made some recommendations. His wife looks after the kitchen. We ate really well - meat dishes for my wife and the 2 kids, I had the local pasta (pici - a kind of noodles) with truffles. All excellent.
Really nice atmosphere. We had a long conversation afterwards with the owner and his wife. They were also very friendly with our young kids, and made sure their dishes were brought as soon as they were ready.
There is another review on here which was not very positive about the restaurant, saying they felt they were being pushed into ordering something without seeing the menu or knowing the prices. Perhaps they had a bad experience, or there was some communication problem (we both speak italian which makes it a bit easier). I can only suggest that this is how real italian restaurants are - they don't just push a menu in your face and wait for you to choose. They take pride in their food and will often recommend what is currently fresh on the menu or a special of the day. Don't be put off by this - let them be your guide!
