Hotel Chiusarelli is right across the street from San Geomani (sp ?) church. The hotel offers a few parking spaces for free on a first come, first served basis in their secure, outdoor lot just a few yards down the street. The rooms have so much character with large doors & shutters that open to either soccer field or old town views. They are clean and the bathrooms are updated. A nice European buffet breakfast was included in the rate. Location is great! There is traffic on the main street out front so ask for an upper room if you want to sleep with your window open. I did not see an elevator.... only beautiful marble stairs. Lots of charm here!

Room Tip: If you want to sleep with your windows open, maybe a soccer field side, upper level room is best for...

I have to give the hotel good grades for comfort, room size and cleanliness. It is also very well located, just a few minutes away from the main square. However, the staff were so cool and aloof, you did not feel welcome. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. The orange juice tasted more like orange pop, and the coffee came from an instant coffee machine. I tried the cappuccino and it was mostly milk. Then I tried an americano and it tasted terrible. In Italy? Give me a break!

I have to agree with many of the reviews on this hotel in that the only thing that lets it down are the staff - in particular one member I found to be rude, sarcastic and had little time to explain anything to you in a way that made you feel like you weren't intruding on his day. We were even told off for talking and laughing in Reception after returning from dinner. Really? If you were lucky enough to get the lady Receptionist ...she was just lovely. Thank goodness for her.
That said, you will find that this hotel is in a great location and offeres adequate facilities for a pleasant stay. The rooms although sparsely decorated were spotlessly clean and there was an empty fridge, safe, hairdryer, tv, toiletries in the bathroom and the beds were comfortable. Wireless is free if you log in via your social networking site. A buffet style continental breakfast was included in the price and served in the light and airy breakfast room at the back of the hotel overlooking the stadium, with a good variety available. I had a ground level room so there was no option to leave the window open at night for fresh air but as it wasn't overly warm it did not pose a problem. It would be good to have the hefty room keys replaced with key cards as you had no option but to leave your key at Reception each time you left the hotel.
The main bus station for buses to Florence etc. is a 5 minute easy walk and the train station can be reached in a taxi in 5 minutes. I would definitely take a taxi from the train station as it is at least a 20 minute walk uphill. Taxis to and from the station cost approx €8 each way. This isn't a hotel you would want to rush back to but I think it is adequate if you are on a budget and have a thick skin!

Room Tip: A room overlooking the stadium would be quieter. There is no lift but staff will take your bag to yo...

Some pros and cons. The location was good; easy walking distance to sites. The hotel was attractive although rooms were basic. The bathrooms were slightly more roomy than most of those during my trip through northern Italy. The breakfast room was cheerful and large and opened onto a patio that overlooked the stadium. We had a room on a level with an outdoor terrace (although we had no access to it other than our only window) so I imagine in the summer there would be no privacy in the room. There were large open areas on each floor where it was inviting to sit with friends.

But no one ever greeted us upon coming or going. In all my other stays I was impressed by the staff. At this hotel the staff completely avoided us preferring to chat among themselves in their back room.

We knew in advance there was no elevator but once we saw that it was a fairly modern hotel, it seemed unusual not to have one. The stairs, however, were wide so not as big a problem as it could have been when we took our own luggage up and down. And lastly they charged for internet use. Really? When most hotels worldwide have gone to free internet!

This property has a lot of promise if someone wants to give it some personality.

I have to agree the hotel is located in a good area close to the main area and near enough to the station to be able to walk, a tip, it's right behind the football stadium,
The room is good, clean and spacious,
However,,, here is a clue to those staff who obviously have better things to do than worry about doing here job, you may find it hard hat all these foreign tourists are here interrupting your day, but understand if you are relying on your countryman to fill your rooms, it may be a bleak summer.
Wake up and treat guest as someone you want there, the staff were no help and myself and others made comments on how they felt they were an intrusion.
Your choice, there are many more hotels and places to visit

Room Tip: Rooms looking over the footy ground are quieter but either way it's not a problem

My husband and I spent 5 nights in Siena at the Hotel Chiusarelli. It is a lovely, smaller hotel in a great location, halfway between the Cathedral of San Domenico and the Piazza Gramsci, the main bus terminus. Great for exploring the city, and to catch the bus to Florence, Rome, etc.

We were promptly greeted and shown our rooms. Staff helped us carry our bags to our 3rd floor rooms. (Note: there is no elevator, and anyone who has trouble with stairs might have difficulty. However, if you can't climb stairs, you might want to reconsider visiting Siena, a hill town with many steep streets.) Our room faced the back of the hotel overlooking the soccer stadium with a small outdoor patio. The room and large bathroom were well-maintained and meticulously clean throughout our visit. There was a large armoire was for our clothes, and a small desk with a fridge. We slept with the windows open, and were awakened by the 7 AM bells tolling from San Domenico - not a problem for us, close the windows if it will bother you.

A nice buffet breakfast was included: self-serve espresso/cappuccino/coffee machine as well as a choice of teas, cornetti, cold cereal, bread with choice of cheeses and meet, fresh fruit and juices. Wi-Fi was not included, but available for purchase: 1 hour/2 euro, 3 hours/3 euro. (You sign in and out, so time does not have to be used in one sitting.) Dinner is available in their restaurant,

Other reviewers comment on front desk staff. They were not warm and fuzzy, but always friendly and responsive to any of our needs.

Room Tip: We asked for a room in the back away from the street. If stair climbing is a problem, ask for a room...

Very comfortable hotel and pretty interior; painted (trompe l'oeil) walls, back terrace facing towards the soccer field. Very comfortable room and good value for the quality. Pretty breakfast room and very nice breakfast. Well situated very close to the main bus station (Piazza Gramschi) and other areas. I found Siena to be a little confusing at first to figure out as the streets curved a lot. But enjoyed visiting the town and day trip to San Gimignano.
