“Good food and friendly service!”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

The food was good and the waiter took the time to describe the different types of Pecorino cheese in the starter and the aging process involved in producing it. The Ribolitto was thick and tasty.
The only thing to let it down slightly was, although good, the cappuccino was €3.50 each.

“Some of the Best Gelato on our trip”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Kids made me stop for gelato every day. Went to the Church of San Domenico and found this spot nearby - great portions and good fresh gelato.

“If you are in Siena, you have to try this place!!!”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

The owner is very friendly and fun, food and wine are very tasty. Me and my boyfriend have tried many different restaurants in Rome, Venice, and Siena while on a 2 week vacation and this one is certainly one of the most memorable dinners we've shared together.

“Vegan”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

Excellent food and exceptional staff. We traveled through Italy with people whose culinary requirements included carnivore to vegan and people looking for pasta and people who were gluten free. The incredibly helpful staff did not seemed bothered by the variances in people's diets. The staff seemed to all be Italian, but they were conversational in English and German as well. Also, they served lunch and dinner at all hours, which helped because we would turn up at other restaurants and find them closed when we were ready for lunch and not quite ready when we arrived for dinner. This place is a find if you are ever in Siena.

“Our Favorite Ristorante in Siena !”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Fortunately we discovered Il Masgalano on our trip to Siena last year where we had the pleasure of meeting the very kind and wonderful Mauro ,Mauro immediately remembered us and treated us like family .He ,along with Guiseppe, and Domenic made every meal extra special ,so much so, that we ate there four times ! Our favorites were the lasagne, melazzane with tomato sauce, pappardelle and cinghiale ( you have to try it to understand the truly unigue taste ) gnocchi with pesto ,pizza with salumi picante, and pear and pecorino. Desserts were divine , and we especially liked the tiramisu and the apple torte. The San Giorgio A Lapi Chianti was excellent as the vino rosso della casa . We appreciated all the very generous glasses of Prosecco and Limoncello ( grazie Mauro ! ) It is very cozy inside the restaurant, but with perfect weather, we were able to dine outsde with a beautiful view of San Domenico. Our 40th anniversary celebration lasted the entire week ,and we felt very lucky to be able to spend it in beautiful Siena. Every day was so much fun ,especially the times we spent at Il Masgalano ! The food was always delicious, and the people at Il Masgalano are fabulous ! Grazie mille , Peggy & George
