Owner description: The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

We went into the cathedral with a ticket for all areas and spent the next 5 hours with an audio guide living through the wonderful history of this amazing place. The art, story and history is beyond imagining and one of the best places we have visited in Europe. The number 1 place to see in Siena is a well placed accolade. Definitely a must for everyone thinking of seeing beautiful Siena.

“Long history and a living church”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

This goes back to the 1300s and yet is still in use today, and this brings a great wealth of painting, chapels, sculpture, ornate marble floors and the wonderful Piccolomini Library. It is not the most lovely ensemble but the liveliness of the place and the riches all around make it a wonderful place to visit.

“Amazing inside and out”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

A beautiful cathedral, unlike others in Europe the inside is as beautiful as the outside. Only visited the cathedral inside for 4euro, there is a ticket for 12euro if you want to visit additional areas, worth getting if you want to see a few areas.

“Best duomo in Tuscany”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

There is something about this cathedral that makes it stand out from all the other cathedrals that I visited in Italy (and that is quite a few). The amazing marble, nave, sculptures, and carvings really make this duomo stand out.
