Owner description: The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

“a world treasure”

A breathtakingly beautiful monument to faith, to art and to Siena itself. From the multicolored buff and white facade to the striped pillars inside, the floors made up of narrative mosaics and elaborate pulpit, the bibliotheca Piccolomini, it is hard to say where to begin. i didn't pay 20 Eueos to climb to the roof and interior of the cupola, but friends who did say it is breathtaking.

“No visit to Siena is complete without a visit to this cathedral”

Overwhelmingly beautiful cathedral. Take your time, splurge for the self-guided tour which is done with an iPad that they lend you. There is way too much to try to do this on your own. You will not regret this visit

“oh my God”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

This place is incredible. Visit during the day and do all of the tours - see the whole thing - but come back at night once the crowd has thinned. We sat in the plaza one night after dinner and we were the only 2 there. We just kind of basked in its beauty. The intricacy of the architecture and artwork is so fantastic that I'm not quite sure how to describe it. Truly worth seeing. If you're in Siena, don't short-change this visit. If you're not going to Siena, go or else you're missing out on something truly awe inspiring.
