Owner description: The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

Take your time and complete the whole tour of this fabulous Cathedral. The view from the upper levels of the museum are well worth the effort. This is a beautiful town with a long history.

“Floors uncovered”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

I've done a lot of cathedrals in Italy (my wife is passionate!! about Italian churches), but Siena's Duomo is my favorite. I particularly like the setting, the exterior detail and colors. But, what sets this cathedral apart from others is the carved floors. And, on other visits, it was always an unfortunate reality that they were largely covered for protection. Now, even with covered floors, the interior is magnificent and worth the visit, but on our visit this year, the floors were completely exposed. Since this has been a working church for centuries, many of the floor scenes are suffered wear; but, others are in quite good shape and all are special.

“A Cathedral to Remember”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

This cathedral is spectacular. The bold black and white marble columns are striking. The floor mosaics that were recently restored were really great. We spent a lot of time just sitting down, taking in the atmosphere and the beauty of this cathedral. This is probably one of the world's best.

“Don't Miss Orvieto Cathedral”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

This is a fabulous sight. By all means take a guide, as a good guide will enhance your appreciation of the spectacular aspects of the cathedral. A good buy is the combination ticket to the cathedral, baptistry, crypt and museum. Be sure to see them all.
