“Fun, Friendly, Formative and Fabulous Feast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

We took an evening cooking class with Lella in October 2012. It was approximately 5 hours which just flew by. This was a perfect time to do the lesson, we could explore the town centre of Siena through the day and then just easily walk to Lella's kitchen in the evening cook and then enjoy a leisurely dinner.

My husband and I joined a lovely group of 5 Americans for our lesson. This was a private tour group and their guide kindly took loads of photos with our camera to capture each process of the many dishes we prepared so we could just enjoy the hands on cooking experience.

Lella was totally hands on with showing us the preparation of many dishes, pasta making, pasta sauce, tuscan soup, potato souffles, beef casserole and almond biscuits. Lella's English was good but she also had an interpreter there called Erica she was very informative not only on the cooking but with information on Siena itself. Lella also has a kitchen hand working quietly in the background making our cooking time an easier and more enjoyable experience.

After all our had work it was time to sit down and enjoy the meal. We were give wine to accompany the meal (which was also served throughout the preparation stage) and the meals were plated and presented to us like real restaurant meals.

Lella's kitchen is immaculate and so conveniently located in the centre of Siena just a short walk from the main square. Lella even ordered us a taxi at the end of the night.

“Private Cooking Class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

We arranged a private cooking class through our hotel in Florence, and Lella's school is where we ended up. This class exceeded our expectations on every level. We learned so much (they even provided us a translator) and got to actively participate in the cooking process. Everything we made was delicious and we had so much fun!

I highly recommend Lella's classes, we would most definitely take a class with her again!

“Great food, fun class.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

Had a great time at this cooking class with 4 other people. The dishes cooked were very tasty and was a very good experience in tuscany. We did the 4 hour evening class, we enjoyed but have already cooked pasta and similar dishes before so I would not say we learnt a huge amount, but enjoyed the recipes cooked and would definitely cook them at home when we return. As we booked an English class, it would have been good if the interpreter knew about the dishes and could speak instead of spending double the time listening to Lella and then hearing it in English. Make sure you bring a pen and write as Lella cooks as the recipes given in class are about 75% correct. Would recommend for an amazing meal in a different setting than usual.

Lella is delightful and an excellent teacher. I now can make pasta including ravioli and gnocchi. I had 3 classes with her and learned so much plus had lots of laughs and of course some great food. I highly recommend her classes.

“Bravissima Lella!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

Lella and her team made us very welcome for our private cookery lesson. The kitchen is immaculate and well set out for teaching small and large groups. We were made to feel very much at home and the 5 hours passed very quickly.

We helped prepare some fabulous traditional Tuscan food with very good fresh ingredients. A super Tuscan tomato and bread soup flavoured with basil and garlic, hand rolled pici pasta with an amazing pecorino sauce (3 types of pecorino!), tagliata of Chianina beef with delicious broccoli souffles, and an unforgettable pine nut, raisin and creme patisserie cake.

We had plenty of hands on cooking but most importantly, we learnt many tips to apply to Tuscan and more general cooking - and several new techniques with pasta, cheese, meat, patisserie.

We are keen cooks and were thrilled with this course. We have eaten well during our holiday in Italy but the food we cooked and ate with Lella was the best.

We speak some Italian but the translator Gian Carlo also made a huge contribution to our understanding and enjoyment.

The best cookery course we have attended - brava Lella!
