Good selection, fine food, situated just off the Campo. Fairly stark interior but reasonable service and prices.

On a very hot day we found this restaurant just behind the Duomo. Although we would have liked to sit outside, all those tables were taken, and since it was so hot we were pleased in the end to have the air conditioning in the smart interior. The staff (three of them) were good humoured and attentive without being obsequious. The food was very good. The house red was a pleasant accompaniment. Although empty at 12.30, it soon filled and had a really good atmosphere. The whole meal for two came to just 50 Euros. Strongly recommended.

We just walked in by chance and did not have any expectation, however it turned out to be one of the very best meals we had during our 3 weeks vacation in Italy! Each dish we had was great, we particularly loved the beef gut crostone with green sauce, and sea bass fillet roulades with pink pepper marinated salmon & oil & garlic courgettes with mint. These 2 dishes were not found in any other restaurant we had visited in Italy, not even something remotely similar. This is definitely THE hidden gem we had discovered during our 3-week stay in Italy.

The "bistecca fiorentina" (Italian T-Bone steack) was juicy and tender. The "Pappa Pomodoro" was refreshing and very light, the "ragù di cinghiale" is a must as well as the home-made chips. The service was impeccable and the location is charming (previously being an old church).

We decided we fancied a traditional, long, multi course lunch, happily we stumbled across San Desidero, just down from the Duamo. The owner was very happy to advise on the sumptuous menu and wine (a man after my own heart, stating that Prosecco is made to be drunk all day everyday!). We had a full 4 courses over a period of 2.5 hours, despite going well past the afternoon closing time, he was very happy to stay open and encouraged us to take our time. The menu was traditional Tuscan, with interesting twists (the stuffed cuttlefish starter and rabbit secondi are excellent). Each course was delicious, as was the wine. Highly recommended!
