“Excellent Wine Tour”

My family and I had an amazing day touring the brunello region with Donatella. The six of us visited a few excellent, off-the-beaten path wineries and had one of the best lunches we've ever had at Agriturismo Podere La Fonte. If we had been touring the region on our own, we would have never been able to pick places with such high quality products and personal attention from the owners. Donatella was a great guide, explaining everything to us at an appropriate level of detail (and in great English). We couldn't have asked for anything more from this tour. Definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Italy.

“Best day in Italy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

Let me start by saying that of our 14 day tour of Italy, our excursion with Donnatella ranked number one. Despite the unrelenting recommendations of travel agents, friends and acquaintances, we were adamant about not renting a car, particularly in Tuscany, where we wanted to enjoy the wine without having to worry about driving impaired. We decided instead to hire a private guide to help us get the most out of our short time there and, based on the recommendations offered on Trip Advisor, we settled on Donatella. We were NOT disappointed. Donnatella picked us up in her comfy van right outside our hotel in Siena, and off we went through the gorgeous Tuscan countryside to our first stop in Montepulciano where we enjoyed the fabulous wine of Contucci Vineyards. From there, we visited a goat farm where we sampled delicious cheeses, olives, jams, honey and, of course, more wine, all the while perched on an outdoor patio high on a hill overlooking the gorgeous countryside. Next, we were off to lunch at Albertos (?) where we dined on the most delectable homemade pasta, braised beef, farm fresh peaches and, of course, copious amounts of wine. It was the best meal of our entire trip. Next we visited a village in Montelcino where we briefly toured an old fort and stopped at a monastery to observe the Monks in their afternoon chant. Our final stop was at La Fornache Vineyard where we enjoyed a private tasting of the very best wine in the region, Brunello. Throughout the day, Donatella filled us with interesting facts about the region and the wine and although we had hired Donatella for an 8-hour day, it wound up being more like 9 hours. It was an absolutely amazing day and worth every single penny.

“Great Day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

We (four adults and two children in our group, plus an additional adult) spent a wonderful day with Donatella touring the Brunello wine area of Tuscany. Especially because two children were with us, she planned for us to start the day at a local organic farm where we had a pecorino cheese tasting. Actually, we had a wonderful breakfast of fresh breads, pecorino and other cheeses, jam, fresh olive oil and, of course, wine. The farm was fantastic, as was our host. Just the drive through the countryside was beautiful, too. Additionally, we visited two small wineries, tasting their wine in the kitchens of the winery owners. We had a perfect lunch prepared also at a local home and ended the day with some honey tasting. Donatella was our tour guide and driver, and could not have been better at both. She is very knowledgeable about the region, clearly loves her job, and was enthusiastic without being obnoxious ;) The van was a recent model and very comfortable for all of us. Also, if you are price shopping, her tour prices are very comparable. Don't look further and book this tour!

“excellent day tour of vineyards and cheese makers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2012

My wife and I spent the day with 5 others in Donatella's company for a great day of wine and cheese tasting. Donatella is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. She shares an intimate love and knowledge of the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

We were safely and comfortably accommodated in a recent model van. Wine and cheese tasting and lunch all inclusive in cost.

Highly recommended.

“Great day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

We visited three Chianti wineries and had lunch with a local family at their house. You could buy wine if you wanted, but there was no expectation to do so. The day was well organized and a lot of fun.

On the plane home, we both ranked our favorite things of our trip, and we both had the wine tour as number one.
