“Better for meat eaters than vegetarians”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

November visit. We were the only customers. Small place. Friendly. Atmosphere would probably be better with more diners. Radio was playing a football match commentary, which interfered with conversation at times. Food for meat eaters was great. For vegetarians/fish eaters, options on secondi piatti were very restricted. A good rustic pleasant meal.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

We walked by this restaurant several times and were intrigued by the menu. We had dinner and were very impressed with the quality of the food in such a tiny place. The pear and pecorino pasta was delicious!!!!

“We rubbed the plates clean.”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This restaurant is situated under the arches of a cellar. There is also a little outside patio. We ate here eight times. And every time we rubbed the plates clean with a piece of bread. Pici alla agllione, Pizza Indiavolente, white cheese pizza’s, giant ravioli with cherry tomatoes. All excellent prepared and served by an all-female staff. Every evening we had the same problem; what to eat today and what to leave for tomorrow.
Around eight, place yourself at a table, order a carafe of red wine and one or two dishes, and flavours will explode in your mouth. And one hint, order a pasta dish an after that, you can order one pizza to share. So you can taste more and leave your plates properly empty.

“Tucked Down a Side Street”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

When we asked the person at the desk of our hotel, Alma Domus, to suggest a restaurant, the told us about Osteria il Campaccio. What a great little place tucked down a side street! It was very close to our hotel and run by a busy family. After 2 weeks in Italy we had tried lots of Caprese and decided this was the best yet. The roasted vegetable were delicious with our pasta.

“OK but not brilliant”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

This is a tiny restaurant that looks promising, tucked away in a small street. In common with many restaurants in Italy, they refuse to serve tap water, leaving you with the choice of bottled water or no water - first disappointment. The mixed antipasto was good, as were two pork dishes. The accompanying grilled vegetables were dry and unadorned. Contrary to previous reviews the bread was not home made and was stale. The tiramisu was average. The service was friendly and prompt. Overall impression was satisfactory but not such as to bring us back.
