We went to Tuscany area for the first time and hired Franco for 2 days to do Chianti Region Tour and Brunello di Montalcino Tour. We saw everything we wanted to see and really enjoyed the experience. Franco is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and I would highly recommend his tours to everyone from all backgrounds! Very relaxing, gourmet lunches, beautiful scenery! 2 great days in a row!! Book it!!! Hope to do tours with him again. Thanks Franco for such a wonderful experience!!!

We booked this tour after reviewing many other options, and it was worth the effort. Our group of four was shuttled in a separate vehicle, joining the main group at the wineries and restaurant. Our driver, Sergio, shared his personal knowledge of the area as well as the history of the region, making it very meaningful for us. Franco is the consummate tour guide and took the time to connect with each of the participants. Needless to say, the food and the wines were unbelievably good. Set aside a day in Tuscany for this tour; you won't be disappointed.

We went on a tour with Franco during our honeymoon in August. It was fantastic. We visited two small wineries (where we got to sample delicious Brunellos, cheese, olive oil, and honey) along with stops for gelato and a delicious lunch in a small hilltop town. This tour takes you off the beaten path, as we were the only tourists at each place we visited. Franco was very accommodating, offering to take pictures for us, picking us up at our hotel outside Siena, and dropping us off back in Siena (we didn't have a car). We would recommend his tour, and would love to explore another region with him during our next trip to Italy.

Franco picked us up at our hotel at 9:30 and we, and 4 others, embarked on a delightful experience, visiting two small-production wineries in Montalcino and Montepulciano (with multiple-wine tastings and opportunities to purchase bottles), a state of the art olive oil extraction cooperative, and enjoying a multi-course lunch at Trattoria el Pozzo in a small hilltop village overlooking the Tuscan countryside. He dropped us off at 8 pm -- after a full and memorable day. A great value.

Here's the thing: a wine tour, like travelling itself, is all about the experience. At the end of the day, my wife and I sat back and thought, wow, that was really cool. We are still savouring the experience (figuratively and literally, as we bought some wine and olive oil).

First, discard your conventional notions of rushed groups of tourists cramming into big wineries that give you a couple of sips then invite you into the store, with a guide that chatters all the time about history, geography and local social trivia (gossip). That is not what you will get. Sit back and put yourself into Franco's hands. Ignore the fact that he doesn't necessarily tell you where you are or what you are looking at, or that he might stop along the way to buy food for his cats. If you want to know something, ask him, and he will give you informative and interesting answers, straight from the heart.

Franco grew up near Siena and is an ex-farmer. This tour was all about wine and food. We did the Montalcino and Montepulciano tour, which included tasting some wonderful Brunellos (Franco is a collector). My wife and I joined three other couples, all from the United States, whom we really enjoyed. With all of us, Franco shared his passion for the wines, food and ambience of the region. He took us to two family wineries, one small, the other minuscule by international standards, both modest but professional operations producing high-quality products with tender loving care. Great experiences, both visits. We left really wanting these people to do well. And lunch was amazing. Franco ordered everything (he let us decide this). For a couple of hours we lingered in a family restaurant in a pretty hilltop village, savouring local specialties and of course some local wines.

Relax and enjoy the day. Don't be in a hurry to get back. Franco is not a clock watcher. Go for the experience, and soak it all in. We will never forget it.
