We had the gniocchi and beef wrapped around puff pastry. The beef was amazing. Gniocchi was with truffle mushrooms - which were not great. But overall everything was tasty. Great wine and ambiance.
The couple next to us had the Tbone - and looked AMAZING!

The staff and service were great. Def recommend.

La Taverna di San Giuseppe (or Taverna San Giuseppe as it was listed in our guidebook) is an absolute must for anyone visiting Siena. Seriously, make a reservation before you hit town because you really do not want to miss this phenomenal dining experience. On 19 September 2013, our night began at the front door when two of the chef’s greeted us with a friendly wave and warm smile from the kitchen. This foreshadowed the courteous and knowledgeable staff that fulfilled our every need throughout the evening. The service was first rate and it seemed as if an army of persons made sure our dinner was perfect. The primary gentleman who attended us was named Luca; he made a number of recommendations throughout the meal and all of them were delicious. Each course was as scrumptious as the last. One young man mentioned the tiramisu as the best anywhere and it very well may be. When I asked about the Vin Santo with dessert, Luca recommended a Passito di Pantelleria (Ben Ry`e), which was so outstanding that I found a liquor store selling it and bought a bottle before we left town. Clearly, these folks pride themselves on the quality of their food and their knowledge and have every right to do so. What a great night, which was topped off with a complimentary bottle of wine to go! Thanks again Luca and the whole gang at La Taverna di San Giuseppe. Cordialmente: Stephan Velazquez

This was our favorite meal during our Italian vacation. Reservations would be highly recommended, but they accommodated us even without one. The ambiance is beautiful and the food was delicious. A must stop in Siena!

This place is absolutely fantastic! The service is so attentive and quick and the meals! WOW! Truffle gnocchi was out of this world and the tiramisu is seriously the BEST. A trip to Siena is not complete without a meal here!

It is a small and very pretty restaurant. Therefore, a reservation is highly recommended. The ambiance is traditional and so is the cuisine. It is a good interpretation of tradition, with combinations that are original to this place and make it better than the various other (respectable) restaurants in town. Expect to enjoy the high quality of the food. The wine list is extremely good, with a great selection of Tuscany wines (both standard and high end) and other regions. Price-wise is a bit on the expensive side, but not outrageous. Staff is helpful and attentive. A good example: the advice I have asked for selecting the wine didn't result in a suggestion for the highest priced bottles. And the recommended bottle was indeed excellent.
