We stayed five nights- When we first arrived, I was a little disappointed that the room did not have a view as the vistas in the area were spectacular but as the week went on, that reaction became unimportant. You spend very little time in your room. They have a beautiful vista terrace where it is quite pleasant to meet fellow guests and enjoy a great bottle of Cesani Vernaccia. The location was great- 10 minutes drive to San Gimignano, 30 minutes to Sienna,(went there twice as the Palio was in process) 30 minutes to beginning of Chianti region, 30 minutes to Volterra. All of the driving was through beautiful countryside. The staff was very friendly and helpful with destination and parking tips. The breakfast was superb. The Cesani wine tasting was an added bonus not to be missed. We did not have enough time for the real tour.
An excellent small, affordable restaurant in San Gimignano was Ristorani Taverna Paradiso near the Duomo on Via S Giovanni. Another was Osteria della Catene on Via Mainardi. In old town Certaldo another is Ristoranti L Antica Fonte. It was a great trip that we will look back on with fondness and we are very appreciative for all the suggestions given by the Cesani staff. Thanks to all of them.More
