“What a wonderful place!”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

The location is amazing, real Tuscany country side, peaceful and relaxing. Buildings have been restored following nature sustainable standards and rooms are furnished with taste and simplicity giving an overall good impression of genuicity and warm hospitality. Foods were very good, dinner as good as the breakfast with the possibility to eat genuine food, home made plates and sweets..... the ideal meals to start and close the day. The hospitality has been excellent, warm and welcoming from the beginning up to the departure.... always a sad moment! But the hope to come back once again make me smile again.

Dear,
thank you so much for your beautiful comment :))
A really important point of our farm house is the landscape.
We have a lot of beautiful place in our zone. The vineyards, that produce a very good wine, the view of San Gimignano, with his towers, and the medieval borg of Certaldo, the olive's tree, with the olive oil, the sun in the morning, and the sun in the afternoon, a lot of coulor, red, orange, yellow, light blue, blue, pink, purple.. All this things do the frame for our structures.
We hope that your stay here was good, and we hope also, that you come back in the next future!

So, i say again, thank you very much for all and SEE YOU SOON FRIENDS! ;)

We booked this agriturismo based in Tripadvisor and Booking.com and the location is breathtaking, as a Tuscany regular I can say it is up there with the best of the region. Unfortunately there was a small cleaning issue, which was handled well but the main issue for us was that we had to take the car up to the main house for breakfast - a small thing but if you are looking for complete relax, a bit of a chore to be honest. We chose to cut short our stay and the staff were absolutely great - they could have objected as we had booked for longer but they handled us with courtesy and a professional attitude.

A mixed review, but they turned a less than perfect experience into a positive one, if you make sure you book exactly what you need ( see below) , this is a good structure in a breathtaking, if isolated, position.

Room Tip: Make sure you have access to a kitchen - our room in Rafaello was shared in an apartment so we basic...

We rented Casa Arcangelo (the entire house) for the 3rd time this year in August and we had a great time again. The setting, the location and the views are great. We will come back for sure. It's a great place to spend time with a large group of friends. The only minor drawback this year was that most rooms had no fans aynmore.

I visited the Agriturismo in July 2012 and had a great experience. We were a family group of 15 and got 3 apartments in Casa Raffaello. All rooms in each apartment were suites. The kitchens were well equiped (I missed a toaster though). The pictures in the website were true to reality. The food in the restaurant was home style and a good option. Location is great and central to Tuscany cities.

In August 2010 we have stayed for 1 week in a nice appartment at Poderi Arcangelo and had a great time. The poderi is located in a great surrounding and has beautiful views on the Tuscany landscape. We have seen several amazing and romantic sunsets. The appartment was comfortable with a nice kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were nicely decorated and the living room had a table with chairs and a couch. Only suggestion would have been to have a better couch as this was not a very comfortable one. There was an area in front of the appartment near the swimmingpool where we had our outside dinners with a great view.
We also had 2 dinners at the Poderi which we enjoyed very much. The price is very reasonable, for € 25 per person we had a 3 course meal with vino dulce.

July 2012: We have just come back from another week as we had such a good time in 2010. This year we could not book any appartments (=full) so we booked a Superior hotel room. The stay and location were great again, good service, nice people and lovely dinners. As we were staying for 1 week in the hotelroom we missed a couple of things as you don't have a kitchen in the apartment: a refridgerator in your room, at night you would like to have some drinks but when the kitchen has closed at 10pm this is not possible anymore so a fridge and coffee/tea maker in the room would be much more comfortable.
Breakfast was ok but we got the same items every day for 7 breakfasts. Most people stay only a few nights so they won't notice it but if you have 7 nights it is nice to have some different items. For a poderi that is working in such a great way with respect to its environment and using biological and natural ingredients, the breakfast could have had a couple of "healthy" items. Such as fruit and wholeweat bread. It now offered a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, cake, croissants and white bread, yoghurt and muesli, coffee/tea.The beds were comfortable but the mattress was a bit hard.

For the rest it was again a great stay, we enjoyed the amazing view from the swimmingpool (nice cold water to cool off as well!) and would like to suggest this nice poderi to everyone!

Just came back from 15 nights travelling through Italy. Family of 4 with two teens. This was my favorite stay mostly for the beauty. As others have stated, you will need a car to get to San Gimignano, it was 12km away. Not sure of taxi transport or rates. We had a rental car which worked out perfect and economically for a family of 4 people.

Ponderi Farmhouse is a picture perfect location on top of a hill overlooking Cerento on one side and you can see the towers of San Gimignano if you are swimming in the corner of the gorgeous pool which overlooks their vineyard - stunning.

This is a quite laid-back location IMO. The folks were helpful but you really had to ask for everything. Very different then American hotels/BB's becuase they don't really proactively try to provide information or really sell their services. For example, they didn't tell you that they serve dinner on Tuesday and Thurday nights and that thier wine tasting was also on those evenings at 5:30. You had to ask for every bit of detail.

We stayed for 3 beautiful nights and I would have stayed longer if we didn't have to move to Venice.

In room internet was 3 euro a night - no big deal.

If you wanted air conditioning it was I think 8 euro a night but the girl at the front desk assured us that the nights really cool down and you won't need air conditioning and she was right. This was mid July and temps were approaching 95 degrees.

The wine was tasty but we only tried the Chianti and we never made it back in time for the wine tastings. A bottle of their Chianti was only 5 euro. Shipping a case home to Pennsylania was 120 euro but when you add the total cost that is still less then if I ordered a case from Napa Valley (becuase I have).

We ate both dinners on Tuesday and Thursday and we all really like the food. It was the most authentic Italian food we had in all of Italy - again IMO. Most of the food we had throughout Italy was really very tasty but also the same with limited menu's. We live in an Italian American area and the food in Italy is not the same. We have much more selection and much more spice.

The dinners were 25 euro per person and 15 if you only wanted a cold platter. With our family of four - my son if a small 14 so I think they assumed he was only 12 but they didn't charge us for 4 meals. They only charged us 150 euro for both meals total so that ended up being economical as well.

Loved this location, the room we stayed in is the one pictured with the big queen/king bed. Their is a large room before the brick archway that had two comfortable single beds for the kids. A large bathroom to the right of the picture and a closet for luggage etc with a pull drape to conceal.

This room had stunning views from every window. One night, my daughter and I couldn't sleep and we just stood and stared out that open window to the right of the bed for at least 45 minutes, looking into the sky, the vineyard, the trees, Cerento. It is a view and memory I will never forget. My daughter turned 16 that day..it was perfect.

Highly recommend staying at Ponderi Farmhouse for a laid-back, quite, stunning vacation with good authentic food. It was great for our family but this would be a perfect honeymoon, anniversary spot for anyone. You are about 12km to San Gimignano, 40 minutes to Siena and around 45 minute drive to Florence (which we didn't even do becuase we loved this place so much). We did go to San Gimignano and Siena.

Hope all this detail is helpful?

My husband & I spent 3 nights here 13 - 15 June. A bit difficult to find initially but really lovely once we did stumble upon it. Helpful front staff. Amazing views from our room, the terrace and the pool area with Cypress trees that typically line the driveway. Lovely cherry trees on the property. Meals were good, and did a wine tasting on one of the evenings. Room was clean and comfortable. Well situated for day trips to Sieana & San Gimignano. Nice gift shop @ reception to purchase wines and olive oil. Would recommend.
