We stayed here for a week in early May with my mother. The owners were waiting with a warm and friendly greeting for us, even though we arrived late due to delays en route. Though they only spoke Italian they made great efforts to ensure we were settled and knew where everything was and how it worked. The casale is a beautiful traditional building with beamed ceilings and a big open fireplace, but with all the amenities we needed including a kettle and teapot ! The kitchen is well equipped with a full oven and microwave and there was extra bedding and towels available if needed. The real wow factor is the outside terrace complete wit table, chairs, parasol and sun loungers. It was an oasis of calm to sit in with wonderful un-interrupted views in all directions onto the Tuscan countryside. Although it is in the middle of the countryside and you need a car many places are within easy reach. The historic town of San Gimignano is only 3km away with great views of the towers visible along the approach road to the casale. Certaldo,Volterra and Siena were all easy to reach and we used the train to go to Florence which was cheap, efficient and took less than an hour. There is a big supermarket in nearby Pogibonnsi which supplied everything we needed during our visit. (The only surprise was a request on arrival for Euros 100 as a security deposit. It was promptly returned when we checked out no problem but we would have taken extra cash if we had known in advance). We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay and would be happy to return.
