Casanova di Pescille
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 11, 2011

this was our second trip to Italy and had previously stayed in Greve. On this trip this was our last stop..Florence, Umbria (near Trevi) and then San G. we stayed for 5 nights. Everything everyone has said was true. We don't mind driving to chianti region...if you want to do that you would travel thru other towns and that is the fun of exploring the country side. This is a great agriturismo..food is fabulous!! we did the cooking class with Silvaro and it was tons of fun and we made excellent courses. San G has ohter great restuarants and the Casanova is near many wonderful towns to explore. You then come back to relax by the pool and just take in the view. Rooms are very clean, comfortable, and everyone is very helpful!!! It was the perfect end to our stay in Italy and we would go back to stay here in a heartbeat!!

Believe me, you would love this place, in a middle of a "Nature Reserve"!

The "Country Side - Bed and Breakfast Style" its a very nice and quiet place.

The restaurant serve excellent food and Saverio - the "Kitchenmaster" is a very good and magical cook.

The waitress Diletta is very nice and courteous - even perfect.

Don´t forget the owners Roberto and Monica Fanciullini, they are very nice people and very helpful.

Last but not least, Ettore, Theo, Gina and Emma the lovely pets of the place.

This all are reasons, because we come back every year !!!

This typical Italian agriturismo B&B provided every amenity we required. The breakfasts catered to all tastes and the dinner was a highlight prepared by the proprietor's son. A friendly and casual atmosphere made our stay relaxing and comfortable with our host Roberto happy to attend to our every request.
The rooms were clean and well presented and the pool allowed for relaxation with the magnificent Tuscan countryside as a backdrop. The views to the towers of the two kilometre distant San Gimignano were an added bonus.
Roberto's own wines and produce topped off a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Highly recommended.

not only was the view from the pool spectacular, but the service was excellent!
Roberto was particularly wonderful, as was Ectorre, the family dog.
We felt a cmfortable blend of nostalgic hospitality and modern conveniences of wifi and renovated bathrooms!
Truly lovely. The food was great, the service refined and the views spectacular.
We discovered many of the guests were returning. We will definitely be among tthem.

Casavona di Pescille was very pleasant. The rooms were nice and the service and food very good. The location is very good. It's near the towns of Siena, San Gimignango and Volterra. There is good wine tasting in the area but it's a trek to the chianti region. The wine that they pour is generaly a Vernaccia which is a white. It's a good, light white wine and that's what I prefer so I was happy with this. The pool was a welcomed sight in the afternoon after sightseeing, especially since the temperatures were unusually high while we were visiting the area.

We stayed here for three nights in late May, and found it to be the most beautiful, idyllic place we have ever been. The buidings - main house and outbuildings - are beautifully and tastefully restored, the room we stayed in was large and comfortable with a postcard view, and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We had dinner here one night, as well, and it was very, very good. We did find it a bit difficult in that we could not communicate with the owner very well, but this type of thing does not offend us in the least. We arrived by car from Pisa and had no trouble finding the place. We did the walk into San Gimignano, and while it is a challenging 2 km, it is only 2 km. Our overall feeling is that this is a little piece of heaven; the patio is beautiful, the food and wine very good, and the view spectacular. We would definitely return.

We were welcomed by Roberto Fanciullini's daughter and shown to our room - very typically furnished, dark and cool (if a little religious in its decor). It is a shame we weren't shown that we could close the shutters by extending our arms through the bars on the window, otherwise we would have enjoyed a better rest the first night. Tired from our travels, we didn't manage to get out to the bar (where you could sample and buy the family's own wine) before the restaurant opened. But we did get a tour of Roberto's lodge and an introduction to the family history through the photos and pictures on the cabin walls - and all credit to Roberto for trying to tell the stories in English! That evening we ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the tagliatelle in saffron sauce - rich and creamy. The restaurant is long and narrow with bare walls, which means if there are large groups it can tend to get noisy (we had groups of ten staying every night we were there). Breakfast featured a nice range of home made bread and cakes, fresh, warm croissants, as well as fruit salad, prunes, flavoured yogurts, cereals, cheese and a wide range of teas and coffees. The views of San Gimignano itself are somewhat obscured by the trees, but the town is easy to access from this quiet corner (and the family advise on the cheapest places to park - it is feasible to park for free at night but not so easy in the day). It is a shame it wasn't hot enough in May to enjoy the swimming pool. But this was a pleasant and friendly place to stay, and I regret not having lingered longer)
