“Great stay in fabulous location”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

I stayed at the Bel Soggiorno last week with my family on our tour of Italy. It was a fantastic stay in a beautiful hotel. The location is perfect; steps inside the gate of the old city and only a short walk from parking lot #2 which means you can leave your car, and walk with your bags to the hotel. Once inside the hotel, the staff was very helpful, and the rooms were clean very comfortable. City is so beautiful it is ridiculous!

I would recommend a stop at Bel Soggiorno if you're looking for a great place to stop in Tuscany.

Bel Soggiorno is situated a few metres away from the San Giovanni gate, in San Gimignano. It's the nearest gate to the bus stop that connects San Gimignano to the rest of Tuscany and also very near the parking lot- this means that you leave your car/get off the bus and you re minutes away from your room.
It's a nice stone building (like all buildings in San Gimignano), with basic rooms (but bathroom had a bathtub which is always a plus) BUT... what you re paying for it's the balcony, and the view from it. Having a drink in the evening, or even during the night, and enjoying the peace and the view is absolutely priceless.
The hotel also has a restaurant, that looked very nice, but we didnt eat there.
Recommended.

The hotel staff was very accommodating. The room was very clean and we had a great view of the countywide. The hotel is within a short walk to all of the sites in San Gimignano.

When we return next year this is the place to stay. Make sure you plan an overnight stay in San Gimignano. The street are quite empty after 8 pm.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is small, comfortable and centrally located on one of the main shopping streets in the beautiful hill town of San Gimignano. Our room was a reasonable size, full bathroom, bed, table & chairs, desk - furniture quite old and utilitarian, decoration in room and bathroom a little tired and could do with updating. However, the view from the bedroom window was spectacular. Breakfast is served in the dining room/restaurant – usual continental buffet breakfast. They have maximised the view in the restaurant by making the whole of the back wall glass, creating stunning panoramic views over the beautiful Tuscan vineyards and hills. The restaurant very popular, always full in the evenings, and the food is excellent. Obviously the best seats are at the window, but if you are seated anywhere in the room you can enjoy the stunning view. We were staying as part of a walking holiday on a half board basis for 2 of the 3 nights (restaurant closed on Wednesdays). Consequently, we had paid for our dinner well in advance and were told on arrival that as hotel guests our table in the restaurant had been reserved. So we were disappointed when we went in for dinner to find our name on a table between the street door and the dining area, which was draughty and felt rather like a corridor with people coming in and queuing for their table as they entered – no view of the window at all. It seemed a bit mean since they already had our money, to seat us in an area that looked as though it would have been given to late bookings. The next morning we specifically asked for a table to be reserved for us in the restaurant – a much more pleasant dining experience.

A friendly and family run hotel which is clean, well presented and superbly positioned for the sights of San Gimignano. You enter off the Main Street and are immediately in an oasis of calm. And made to feel welcome If you get one of the rooms facing out over the Tuscan countryside you are in for a treat. The view is one you could spend all day admiring. The rooms are not huge and are sparsely furnished so don't turn up with a world tour's worth of luggage. But they work. The only drawback is the walls are thin. Best bring earplugs if you don't want to spare late night revelry and plumbing noises! All in all a gem in a tourist honeypot.

Room Tip: Choose any room facing east - we had Room 6 on the first floor with a large shared balcony which is...

We stayed in this hotel from May 1st to 3rd. The staff was always caring and helpful. We were very well receptioned by Chiara, who gave us tips about the city and even not so touristic places. Even the waitress in the breakfast room (which becomes the restaurant a few hours later), in a hurry and alone, was pleasant.

We were at room 8, which has a fantastic view and two windows. We took this room because it was the last one available (it's for three people, but we were two). The bedroom was warm and clean. The bed is big. The bathroom is nice, also big and the shower is good.

Between the desk and the breakfast room/restaurant there's a living room, cozy and beatiful. The restaurant has the same view as the room.

The only negative point is that it is a little bit noisy, I don't know if because of the ceiling or walls.

Definitely we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 8, same view as the restaurant.

We booked seven nights here, and booked the junior suite on level two (room 11). Our room is large with the most amazing view of the Tuscan countryside, when we were shown to the room and the curtains opened we had an OMG moment! There are two French doors which open on to a private balcony, sitting on the balcony in the sun is just perfect! The room is a very good size is light and immaculate! The bathroom is not large but ample size and there is a separate room walk in robe and lots of storage for clothes and cases. The bed is queen size and very comfortable the mattress is firm, pillows comfortable, linen good quality white sheets. Air conditioning and heating is in the room . We have been very happy here it's quiet the staff are friendly and very helpful with any queries. Breakfast is included and is served in the restaurant which has floor to ceiling windows with stunning views across the countryside, breakfast comprises of cereals, yogurts ,fruits, pastries , boiled eggs, fruit juices, cold meats and cheeses and fresh fruit is a great start to the day.
The hotel is located near to the main gates of San Gigiminano so a short walk to the hotel, there are plenty of shops nearby and the bus stop to Siena,Poggibonsi and other towns is located near to the main entrance , the bus service is regular and an inexpensive way to see the countryside. We did a trip to Volterra and also to Colle Val di Elsa by bus, taxis are also available, the hotel has a list of taxis and also prices the taxis charge for some of the longer journeys say to Florence.
In short the hotel is to be highly recommended if you are planning a stay in San Gigiminano, a very relaxing place, there is also a very good restaurant attached to the hotel the food is very well price extensive wine list and fabulous food!
