“Perfecto e' Spectacolo”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

This Hotel is a must when visiting Tuscany, epsecially if you wnat a relaxing break. It is idealy sittuated for visiting San Gimignano, Volterra, Col Val D'Elsa, Florence, I could name dozens of places. The Hotel itself is a very nice mix of contemporary design, and typical Italian flair and style. Both the out door pool with bar area, and the Spa with an indoor pool and out side pool / spa are perfect places to relax and soak up the Tuscan laid back attitude to life, and to re-charge the batteries that UK life drains so easily. My wife and I stayed at the Villa San Paolo from the 18th to the 25th September, it is an easy hour and a half drive from Pisa airport. On arrival at the Hotel, Sara from reception came to the front door to welcome us (when was the last time that happened to you) her English language is perfect, however she was very accomodating, letting me try out my Italian langauage skills, nothing was too much trouble for Sara. Luggage was taken to our room. All of the staff at the San Paolo are exteremely friendly and polite, I must especially mention Cynthia, Matteo, and Simone. This Hotel is an example of how a Hotel should be run, I had the great pleasure to meet and talk to the man in charge of all of the Hotel (forgot to ask his name) he too was not only very friendly, but had an English sense of humor. On the morning we left, both the boss and Sara came to the door to wave us goodbye, now that I have never experienced before. If aksed would I return, my answer is a definite yes, I would highly recommend the Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the Villa, over looking San Gimignano.

The experience staying here was very pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and elegantly decorated. Their staff and customer care is attentive and trying to fulfill you expectations ... However, you'll probably have to take your car to visit S.Gimignano.

This is our second visit in 3 years. The hotel has a quiet feel, with excellent rooms and public areas furnished traditionally but with a modern twist and with spa baths in some rooms. The hotel has a spa and spa treatments at extra cost. It is set within the fields and vineyards of Tuscany, the local wine from Le Quirico vineyard 100 yards away is served in the restaurant along with many others. A short drive of 10 minutes to the medieval city of San Gimignano whose towers can be seen clearly from the hotel, about an hour to fantastic Florence and a little less to stunning Sienna. We watched one of the pre race, races of the famous Palio on our visit in 2009 -very exciting. The staff are friendly, there is free wi fi and the panoramic hotel dining room is simply stunning. The coffee and choice of food at breakfast and lunch is very good. We tended to eat out in the huge number of nearby restaurants and cafes in the evenings. A car is essential to get out and about.

Room Tip: Rooms in the older part of the hotel are very characterful.

We stayed for five nights in may/june 2012 booking 2 doubles and one triple. The rooms are very spacious and each one has a patio or balcony. The grounds are beautiful and the smell of the olive trees adds to the experience. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was very filling and the view of San Gimignano each morning was priceless. The best part of the stay was the help we received from Luigi and Sara. They helped set up tours to Florence and to the Chianti region as well as recommend a fabulous place for dinner. I have a gluten allergy and they made sure they had gluten free bread and pasta available. We have recommended this spot to two friends who are going to stay there. Can't wait to go back. 10 minute drive into San Gimignano. Visited Volterra, San Gimignano, Certaldo, Chianti region, Florence while staying there.

We loved this hotel! Great views of Tuscany! Beautiful accommodations; friendly and expert staff and restaurant servers; lovely pool area and pool staff! Buffet breakfast - very good and good selection. One morning we had to leave for a tour to Florence before breakfast time and the reception staff made sure we had a ' food to go ' bag waiting for each of us at the desk before we left!
The hotel restaurant was beautiful but the dinner selections and food were a bit disappointing. However, I would not let that keep me from recommending this beautiful hotel!

Nice hotel- the good was the view from the restuarent, swimming pool for the summers, hotel staff were exemplary and always had a helpful hand, rooms were decent and decent breakfast. The bad-- location was very average and quite away from San Gimignano, no kettle in the rooms and poor coffee at breakfast. Ideally one would like to be within walking distance of the town.
