I stayed here recently with a large group of friends for a wedding. I can honestly say this is one of the nicest places I have had the pleasure of staying in Italy.

The rooms are ideally equipped with everything you need for a self catered stay, and the venue is situated only a short drive from the local train station, which has good links to Florence, Pisa and many other beautiful places to see in Italy. The only thing to note is you could not stay here without access to a vehicle!

The views from the pool area can not be beaten. Simply stunning.

I would certainly look to stay here again if I was in the area...........

We had a very nice stay in Podere il Pino. The place is situated among the olives and the grapes orchards and with a beautiful view of San Gimigniano. There is a garden with some local herbs and a barbecue place. Our landlord turned out to be both a very discreet and helpful when needed. Our cottage was clean and fully equiped, but anyway - we stayed most of the time outside enjoying breathtaking landscapes form our garden.

We stayed at Podere il Pino in August and early September, first days in appartment 5, afterwards in appartment 8. Even though there was a double booking made due to a communication mistake, Matteo the manager, made a generous offer so we could stay at Pino.

We had a great time, the garden and pool are marvelous, with views as in the pictures. Appartment number 8 was perfect, also with great views. Kitchen is large enough, only the fridge can be to small of you stay with older kids or more adults. For us, 2 adults and 2 little kids it was a large appartment with enough space for he kids.

Even though all most all appartments where booked, the place is stil tranquil and really a hidden gem. Location is perfect near San Giminiano and in between Florence andere Siena.

Only minuses are the fact that there was no possibility to have dinner twice a week as promised upfront and during our stay and it isn't possible to order fresh bread. Plus the fact there was no personell at the reception all 11 days (exept for 4 hrs in total). We had contact with the gardener who didn't speak English, so communicating was a challenge, but we managed.

Room Tip: Appartment 8 has a large livingroom with attached diningarea and kitchen. The apartment had beautiful views and nice garden downstairs with sun until 3pm. Appartment 5 is a 1 bedroom appartment. It is rather small for 4 people, when the sofa is made as a bed, the table has to be moved to be able to walk. The garden downstairs had almost no sun.

We stayed from 7th September for a week with a party of friends for the wedding of two of our friends. We had a fantastic time. The views from the complex are stunning. The apartments are basically comfortable but the weather was so good we spent most of the time in the garden or by the pool. The wedding reception went like clockwork the service and food could not be faulted. The organisation by Matteo was superb. If there is a downside it is the approach roads which are unmade and bumpy. Once you are in the complex it could not be faulted. One of best locations in Europe at which to have Gin and Tonic o'clock.

We arrived at the property close to midnight after a long dusty drive along unpaved, unmarked and unlit roads. Many times we felt lost and anxious, and if it were not for other Trip Advisors comments about feeling the same, I am certain we would have turned back. Villa 11 has cold stone floors and stone walls, smelled dank upon our entry, my sister in law started sneezing upon entering the door... The kitchen is old, furniture outdated, the beds were draped in sheets that smelled of a long closed closet. Italy was the last leg of our 5-country cross drive and we had stayed in hotel rooms with crisp white linens, so the villa was a disappointment. There were cobwebs on the ceilings and cobwebs behind the wall lamps. I saw unidentified flying insects in our room and something that looked like a green cockroach on the night lamp, and another time, a 7-cm spider crawled behind the headboard. I couldn't sleep thinking about these housemates. The old dishwasher left soap residue on all the glassware and dishes so we had to wash them all over again. There is one coin operated washing machine for the entire complex, and no dryer so we had to hang up our clothes in the sun. This cluster of villas is located among vineyards, olive trees and other beautiful foliage, but the property grass seemed overgrown. There is no restaurant in the property or within many kilometers radius so we had to drive out for groceries for breakfast and took all lunches and dinners in the other cities. We were there Sept 23-26, 2013 so the fields were brown and dry and dusty. We just made Podere il Pino a base as it is in the center of the other cities we wanted to visit such as Florence, San Gimignano, Pisa, Sienna, the Castelo D'Albola vineyards and winery, and The Mall. We booked online and relied heavily on positive reviews probably from those who have been here during summer or spring. We stayed 4 nights and were out throughout the day so we didn't get to use the other facilities though it didn't seem like there were many. We only met Mateo on our last day (he'd been sick) and only for a couple of minutes as we were already leaving. Even though it wasn't the best season to go, the villa needs better upkeep and upgrading to match the beautiful Tuscan area.

Room Tip: Try to review other hotels/villas as the rooms, fixtures and furnishings here all need upgrading.

Hello Annette!
Thank you for your review and your stay in "Podere il Pino"!

We are really apologize that you didn't liked our Villa. Anyway I think it is not as same that you say...
Probably the 4 days that you was here there was terrible weather so in the Villa there was more umidity than usually but nobody told us all these things before... so... Also because it is very nice property with new furniture.
Anyway you was never in the Villa during the day so we couldn't meet before the third day that you was here... When we met I asked if everything was ok and you told me yes! Also the second day when you arrived at the Villa. Franco (my collegue) called me to let me speak with you by phone and you told me that the place was isolate but everything was ok! You didn't told me about the others problems...
So, in the case you told me that you have some problems we can try to resolve the sitution or we can try to find the best solution for you...

Anyway we are really apologize for everything!
We hope to see you again in "Podere il Pino" and I am sure you will appreciate our complex the second time!

Thank you for your stay!!!!!
Kind Regards!

Matteo
