Description: The Renaissance banquets at the Medici court with game and vegetables of the lands of Tuscany come back to life in The Manger restaurant menu in the center of San Gimignano. In Via Mainardi in the stables of an ancient building, Susi and Paul Nannelli have recreated the atmosphere of other times, offering a cuisine that is inspired precisely by the ancient recipes reworked in a modern way: fillet of venison with vin santo and mushrooms, Wild Boar Remigio de 'Nannini and wild boar in sweet and sour sauce are just some of the unusual dishes to try for sure. The restaurant is run by Mrs. Susi who chooses only local products for the preparation of the dishes presented to guests with care even in appearance. Do not miss the Tuscan specialties such as Ribollita or pappardelle with wild boar, much loved by foreign tourists who visit the locale.Il restaurant is located in the historical center a few steps from Piazza Sant'Agostino in a living room with stone walls and brick arches ancients. The atmosphere is rustic and elegant and is eaten with a background in classical music. In summer there stands outdoors to enjoy in addition to the kitchen even the atmosphere of the medieval village. The management is friendly: the spouses Nannelli together with their daughters Annalisa and Giulia will welcome you with kindness and cordiality.

We had an evening meal here and were very happy with the food. I had the Deer in white wine with mushrooms which was really good and my husband had wild boar which I must say was even better! Service was good, a bit slow to start but improved as our evening went on despite it getting very busy.

We were recommended this restaurant and we decided to go and have for a romantic dinner.
The restaurant is awesome in rustic style with lovely soft music atmosphere.
We firstly ordered typical Tuscan menu starters, antipasti toscani and sformatino di gorgonzola con pere caramellate and we really appreciated the goodness of cured meats and cheese.
We also wanted to taste the main courses by trying the pappardelle al cinghiale and ravioli con pecorino e tartufo. We loved the wild pork sauce tasteful and the freshly ravioli pasta which were combined with a delicious organic red wine.
Service staff was very kind and fast in serving with no long waiting time.
We really enjoyed this restaurant and we hope to come back once again.

We read the reviews and decided to try this out of the way restaurant. We were there for at least 20 minutes before we were even asked if we would like a drink. 10 minutes later we finally got them. The bread they brought us was bland ( hard to believe bread can be tasteless but there you are). I don't agree with having to pay for a side such as a salad or vegetables. Having said that, the spinach sautéed with garlic and olive oil was quite tasty. I ordered the wild boar steak to try something different. BIG mistake ... There was a piece of plastic in my meat about 2cm square. When I told the waitress she apologised but just said it wasn't her fault. I asked her to tell the chef but I'm sure she didn't. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all

dear Madame,
maybe you don't know that tuscan bread is ALWAYS without salt, and so almost tastless.
About your waiting I can just say that yesterday in italy was a particular holiday day, and for this we were very very busy. In italy you always pay for a side dish and it doesn't matter if you agree or not (it is written on the menu). The waitress told to the chef about the plastic in your meat and I'm very sorry..If you told before, we could have change your plate. For it we made you a discount. Anyway, you ate it all!

This is a good restuarant but we prefer others in San Gimignano.
We had dinner in the outdoor terrase. It is nice.
We had bruschette, antipasto tarditionale, filetto cervo and ossobuco. Good but some room for improvement. List of Tuscany wines available.
