This restaurant in my view deserves to be number 1 on the list! Delicous food, good value for money, locals visit it and it was basically full 'off season'. We tried to get into other places on the top restaurants list as I do not go anywhere without looking it up on Trip advisor however these were full and it turned out to work in our fabour as we stumbled across this restaurant in our search for a nice place to eat for our last night. The wine prices are so reasonable as is the food and there is so much to choose from. The food was fantastic and overall we had a wonderful evening!

I've been lucky enough to eat at this restaurant on several occasions - and actually traveled back to San Gimignano simply to eat there again! The view on the terrace is outstanding, especially at sunset. It's a spectacular experience to watch as the homes dotted across the Tuscan landscape as they slowly turn on each porch light.

The food is out of this world. Anything with wild boar in it is a great option as it is the local specialty. And the gnocchi!! OH, the gnocchi. Get the gnocchi. One night, I couldn't decide if I wanted wild boar or gnocchi, so the waitress simply brought me half a plate of each at no extra charge.

This place cannot be missed. I'm ready to go back again! Worth. Every. Penny. And more!

Tucked away at the edge of the walled San Gimignano is this little gem of restaurant, it is absolutely perfectly gorgeous and a treat for the eyes. Since it was early January, we ate inside, but the view from the terrace is fantastic.

I have nothing but great things to say, the menu was a great read with local ingredients as the key. I chose the penne with gorgonzola, it was the bomb! My wild boar was another great choice, the gelato dessert was a wonderful way to round-out the meal.

We will dine at Le Vecchie Mura again!

When we were advised to reserve a dinner here, the emphasis was on the amazing location with its unobstructed view of the nearby countryside. This was true and enhanced by a table situated right next to the edge. However, do not discount the food. The menu offered a good selection including some traditional local favorites. The wine list contained a varied selection at fair prices. If there was any issue it was with the service which was slow and inattentive at times but not to any point that it interfered with experience. We had better meals in San Gimignano,, but none can compare with the atmosphere here. There was seating indoors accross the road but somehow this defeats a full enjoyment of the meal.

We lived in San Gimignano for 5 months, and have been back many times since. Most of our special nights out were at this restaurant. We have had many excellent meals there, often sitting 12 or more at the table, with every person leaving feeling very well fed and well taken care of. Roberto Bagnai is a particularly fine host. He says he speaks food English, but he does very well at it. He will do virtually anything for his customers. The food is very good, and not too expensive, particularly when you consider the friendly atmosphere and panoramic Tuscan view. This is an unforgettable place, run by some unforgettable people. We will be back.
