took trip advise to check out this place last night. glad we went past it in the afternoon and that i made a reservation as the place was filled up by 7.30pm. food was really great although i was very sad that i couldn t have the steak florentina as it is for 2 people ! damn, my daughter chose a pasta dish and i went for another steak dish. meat was delicious as was the panna cotta desert. will definitely return if i m in the area... and will make sure i bring a partner in crime to order the steak florentina with me !

We went here after several recommendations, and first impressions were good. The pizza oven is impressive and very welcoming, and the dining area had a great atmosphere with the Scala theme. Three of us had the grilled beef in different styles, with mixed feelings, mine came out 10 minutes before the rest of my party's, and was superb, but the others were a little disappointing, although they did offer an explanation of a problem in the kitchen.
The panna cottas were the best I had on the trip however.

During our week stay in San Gimignano, we have visited this place 3 times- I think it says a lot :) The food was excellent, the service is really fast and professional, waiters help a lot to choose the best wine that goes with; better to reserve in advance.

My (new!) husband was dying to try this place after reading all of the fantastic reviews, so of course it was one of the first stops on our honeymoon- it entirely lived up to the expectations. I am not a meat eater, and was PLEASANTLY surprised by the simple (And cheap!) pizza and mixed grilled veggies. He ordered the 2.2 lb steak, where the owner (who is apparently 8th generation and has had family live in S.G for 400 years!) let Andy try the different types of beef (raw) off of his machete. Seriously. It is that great of a cut of beef. Half way through the meal the waiter asked if he wanted it "heated", which Andy replied no to, although the steak was rare (raw!)... apparently, having the steak "heated" is entirely normal, where they recook some of the raw parts and let you eat it all the way to the bone "WITH YOUR HANDS!" the waiter instructed, tossing us some lemon hand wipes... So, yes, my fiance- uh, husband, finished the entire 2.2 lbs of steak by himself and was THOROUGHLY impressed with every aspect of this amazing restaurant. ENJOY!

A restaurant with very friendly people and a personalized attention. A very good meal and above all a charming atmosphere with nice lyrical music. We arrived late at San Gimignano, there was practically nothing open, by chance we find this restaurant, it was open and the experience was really exceptional.
